did Roman women have sex with their slaves?

Since slaves were people without any legal rights in the Roman world, the possibility is certainly there. However, because of the slave's low social status, it would be unlikely for a self respecting patrician woman to lower herself to such contact with an inferior.

Also, since most Roman patrician ladies were themselves under the power and control of the "Paterfamilias," i.e., the male head of the family, the consequences of her debasing herself with a slave could result in death for both of them.

The Paterfamilias had the power of life and death over his household, and had legal permission to kill any member of his family or servants if they disgraced the family. A lady sleeping with a male slave could completely disrupt a family's inheritance system if a bastard succeeded to the role of Paterfamilias instead of a true born heir. This was very serious business and the consequences would be death before dishonor.

So my answer to you is that it probably happened, but rarely for the reasons discussed above. Roman men, on the other hand, probably had sex with their household slaves all the time. That was their prerogative.

I wonder what is worse :having slaves or having sex with the slaves ?I think both are worse , so perhaps it could happen.In '' Quo Vadis'' ,Roman men from high society had sex with slave women , the king wanted to have sex with a slave woman although she was a pure princess.But she was a Christian and she was saved ...by some important who fell in love with her.

The people who worshiped the idols , the ancient gods of the demons , haven't been too moral.

In Bible , in Egipt , the wife of a great egiptian wanted to sleep with Joseph .But Joseph worshiped the real God (that of Isreal ), and rejected her. She was so angry from being rejected that she told her husband that actually Joseph tried to abuse her.Her husband send Joseph to jail. But God gave to Joseph the gift of reavealing the interpretation of the dreams and Joseph interpreted the dreams of Pharaon and because the dreams came true , Joseph became the second powerfull man , in Egipt , after Pharaon...So I think that higher classes could abuse the slave or lower social clases and this happens even nowaday somehow , not only in the past. Because there are people who believe that if they rule a firm , they deserve the body of the staff.But the body is something that belongs a little only to a husband /wife, and in moral conditions...

If it's true, then that's barbaric! I never heard of this either, but I did hear about people being forced to choose a door and one has a tiger in it though. It's not animal cruelty, the tiger won't be suffering but it's savage cruelty to a human being!
