1 - During the period following the Civil War the US:
a - was willing to expand because of isolationism.
b - was able to once again expand because slavery in new territories was no longer an issue.
c - had a shrinking economy that prevented the country from expanding.
d - only grew because of graft and bribery in Congress.

~e - none of the above. Do a little reading, particularly on the settlement of the west during the early 1860's and the Union military presence all across the Plains and the Southwest at the same time.

Gotta agree with duhduhduh. Do your own homework. Gee, if you do it right, you'll be able to prove to your teacher that the test is unfair because no correct answer is available. Of course, that make take some effort on your part and it appears that you are not up to the task.

B) now had the available manpower (soldiers) to obliterate the Indians if they resisted & yes, slavery in the «new» territories would no longer be an issue

C maybe? There was a period of great expansion right before the civil war that ended in like 1861 so that would be my guess, not promising it is right though. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful!
