Trying To Find My Son's Mother Cause I have not Seen My Son Since He Was Born

I'm at the stage where I'd like to get my tree somewhere permanent. It's on Genes Reunited but their programme is a bit of a pain. I've tried downloading Personal Ancestral File from the Church of Latter Day Saints but I don't like how their printouts abbreviate things nonsensically and how I can't see an overall picture of my tree.
Is there any other good software which is ideally free, or at least reasonably cheap? I'm not professional enough to bother with family tree maker, I just want to have this for posterity.

I've been using Ancestry.com, but haven't been able to find anything. All I have written in my family tree is from what my grandma knows and I'm guessing it's because they were connected to the mafia back in Sicily. It's like someone hid their records...

Right now, I do family histories for people I know and create a genealogical album for them. Can I turn that into an online opportunity? Why would someone pay someone else to research their family tree for them? Would you?

I just recently wanted to start doing a family tree to see who was in my family and the history of my family. Where do I even start? I can't use ancestry.com because you have to pay and I don't have any money to do that. Where's a free website where I could find that kind of stuff? Give me some ideas/tips please. Thanks.

I’ve had memberships to Ancestry.com for 4 years. I’ve gleaned as much information as I could from there. I’ve checked familysearch.com and found nothing. I’ve gone to Dana, IN and checked out the information I could find there. I traveled to Clinton, IN and obtained Steve’s & Arminta’s (and Arminta’s brother, William’s) marriage record. I have Arminta’s death certificate and obituaries. I have birth records for 2 of Steve’s & Arminta’s children. I’ve located records on Arminta Stribling’s parents and siblings. According to Arminta’s death certificate, Steve was born in Sullivan, IN. I traveled to Sullivan & can’t find any records on Steve’s ancestry. I even checked the church archives based on the reverend that performed Arminta’s eulogy. About all I can think of now, is to check out newspapers to see if there’s anything in them concerning birth, marriage or death records. I’m running out of ideas.

My grandmother came from Dingolfing, Germany. Her mother, father, brother and her moved to the states just before Hitler's rise leaving the rest of their family behind. My family subsequently lost contact. I know there were some Nazis (a few SS officers) in my family that left for Switzerland and Paraguay. Does anyone know anything about Dingolfing's (Bayern) involvement or how I could track down my long lost relatives? I think it would be interesting. I have a photo of one in full SS uniform with RFSS cuffband and dagger etc but I'm not sure I can post it on here. It is old anyway.

We are looking in particular for any info on James Matthew Walker, born in Mississippi in 1847. Anyone with any info on this person would be much appreciated. We think he may be part Native American.
