a lot of people are looking for their coat of arms. once you find it, what do you do with it? i have never understood the interest in a coat of arms. thanks

Hey Trees and Me,

Well, you have good intuition, they really have no meaning today. Just a bunch of companies selling pictures. Especially, for us in the USA who are many generations removed from the days of Jousting recognition and Scottish Clan Recognition.

These are not great sources for telling you the truth about COAs, but if you want their perspective for a more complete answer, try these sites too.

The selling of coats of arms is a big profitable business. Relatively few people actually have the "right" to arms.

I do own a heraldic device registered with the College of Heralds. Many people like representation of someone else's or a fantasy device on their coffee mug.
