I was adopted at 4 yrs old and I want to know how you get a court order to obtain you adoption records..

Hey Sissy Bombay,

That depends on the location. What state are you in, or province or country. Remember this is an international forum.

When I find this information for others, I simply search using YAHOO SEARCH, for "ADOPTION LAW ", and you substitute in your location. You can also look for "VITAL RECORD ". Yahoo seems to do a better job of actually producing the record offices. Then you look through the web sites that come up, and you will find the process to get a court order, if there is one. Some locations have open adoption records so a court order is not needed. In the meantime you might want to have the following sites which are about registering to find either children, or parents.

The courthouse in the county where you were born will have a form for you to fill out. Courthouse clerks get these requests all the time.
