I have a girlfriend whose last name is "Gustin" but in Lebanon it would be known as "Ghostine." Supposedly her family there is from a place known as Zgharta, but when her grandfather emigrated he severed all ties to his family there. She wants to reconnect and figure out her geneology. Can anyone tell us anything about that name "Ghostine" and how to find her family there?

The Arnold family goes back to the days of the American Revolution. This book has information concerning an ancestor of mine Captain Lewis Saxon who was in the American Revolution War. I am applying for membership in the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). I am specifically seeking information regarding John Pierce Saxon born 14 Dec 1810 son of Charles Allen Saxon born 07 Feb 1790 and Judith Pierce born 09 Jun 1792. Charles Allen Saxon was the son of Lewis Saxon. I understand that Mary Polly Saxon (daughter of Lewis Saxon and his wife Sarah Bacon Allen) was married to an Ira Arnold and that must be where the Arnolds come in. I would like to find out where to obtain the book "The Arnold Family" by W.H. Arnold of Texarkana, Ark. published by west Co., 1935. I will appreciate any help. Thanks Carol

Looking for the descendents of Stephen HOPKINS, from 1726 to present day. Stephen HOPKINS birth May 7, 1707 in Providence, Providence County, Rhode Island. Death July 13, 1785 in Scituate, Providence County, Rhode Island.
He was married to Sarah SCOTT and Anne Smith. Stephen and Sarah had at least 8 kids. He was apparently self-educate. He was a member and speaker of the Rhode Island Assembly, and in 1754 was a delegate to the Albany convention in New York were he considered Franklin's early plan of Union. Hopkins spoke out against British tyranny long before the revolutionary period. He attended the first Continental Congress in 1774, and was a party to the Declaration of Independence in 1776. He left that congress in 1778 and returned to his native state to serve in its Legislature.

I have recently found out that a member of my family was put into a debtors jail in the Brigton area in late 1880's. Does anyone know how I can research into these and if so what kind of records are kept? Additionally, if anyone has had a family member sent down around the same time, are you able to share where they are? Thanks in advance.
