On my grandfather's birth certificate (born 1863) it has his mother's name as Eliza Hobson, formerly Soliague. The name Soliague is very unusual and I wondered if anyone knows where it might be from, it's history etc. My grandfather's birth was registered in the district of Mile End Old Town in the County of Middlesex. Thank you.

I was told that my great-grandparents, John & Hannah Fernstrom arrived in America somewhere around the Pennsylvania area in the early 1900's. John had a falling out with his family and he and his wife moved to Massachutts shortly after arriving in America. John never made contact with his family again. I am his great-granddaughter (he died before I was born). I'm just curious.

When Native Americans were put onto reservations, their family names were changed to suit the "White Man". I have Indian heritage from both sides of the family and cannot trace it back to my ancestors. I want to tell my children who our ancestors were so they can be proud of who they are.

she left 20 years ago, and please don't say why bother looking, i only want closure, and yes i am sure that i do. anyway, i am wondering if anyone knows of a good way, i have even paid the $60 search and sent out about 12 letters to the addresses i got, with no responses. she may not want to be found, or i may not have found her, but either way, i am determined to. i have a friend who found her father through some organization, very small, i want to say it was called ALMA? anyway, i can't find any info on them, does anyone know of them, or some other similar organization i could go through? i really need to find her (physical address i can go to preferably), if for nothing else than closure. thanks in advance!

The going rate for "professional" geneaologist appears to be $60.00 an hour. the rates I have seen for "experienced" but not "professional" researchers has been over $20.00 per hour of research regardless of what is found. Wouldn't it be better to pay only for results? How many people would rather pay to let someone with experience do the research rather than simply doing the on line looking themselves?
