does that mean they're related? there are gravestones beside my family that no one knows if they're related. "Thomas James" is buried beside "James S." of the same last name, and they're almost the same age. no one in my family knows, but is it safe to say they're related? how could I find out? (is it ok to bug churches about it for birth registration?)

I have been researching my family tree for several years, and now I've hit about as far as I have been told I can go, but I'm not going to give up. I found a branch on "familysearch.org", and the person a)has the same name as my great great grandfather,
b) was born in the same area, and
c) has a birthdate that makes him old enough to be his father.

The only catch is, the information was collected a couple years before my grandpa was born, so it says they have no children. also*, in my dad's babybook, my grandpa had written "william" as the fathers name, and "sinclair" as the mothers maiden name, both of which do not match the ancestral file. what do you propose I do?
I was also suggested to by some friends that perhaps they had changed their names because of a crime, or for no aparent reason. they could also be uncles/aunts. But I really do hope it's his parents... what do you think?

Do you know a Lindsay Donald? It could be a man or a woman with that name. A new website dedicated to people with that name and spelt the same way, will be launched soon. There are only six Lindsay Donald on the internet at present and part of my University degree is to established a website with people whose first and second names are exactly alike. The name Lindsay Donald, is probably one of the world's most unusual name in the Guiness Book of names. The research papers that I have read suggest that there are probably 250 people in the world with that precise name. Both part of the name suggest a Scottish origin with the surname, Donald, coming from the clan McDonald.
This though is debateable as thier are less Donald's than McDonald.
The Donald name is a complete clan of its own and owes no alligience to the McDonald or MacDonald.
The correct spelling for this name into the website is; Lindsay Donald and no other spelling will be accepted for the answer.

Okay I was wondering I've been told that I have two family castles in the UK. One in Scotland with my mom's maiden name, and one in England with my father's last name (and mine) and also an English Lord who has the last name of me that may or may not be living today. I did try to find these castles online but I couldn't. There must be one of them because my mom's cousin went to Scotland and took pictures of the ruin castle, and I talked to a friend once about this and he did hear about one of my family castles. So anyway are there some good reliable sources to try and trace this back?

My Great Grandmother was Cherokee and had a Roll number, however, when she passed away, the roll number was in a hope chest that my great aunt sold without going through the contents and so the number was lost. I have looked on the internet and tried to locate the number that way, does anyone know how you can find the number again?
