This might sound slightly weird, but years ago I read a book that was part of a series about teenagers and magic. In one of the books, there's a part where a girl is trapped in a tank (or something like it) full of water and can't move, even though she's still alive. It's some sort of form of torture. She's finally rescued, however, and during her time in the tank she is kept alive because her male friend/boyfriend has been cutting himself to keep her alive (don't ask me how...I can't remember). Anyway, I can't think of the name of that book for the life of me and the girl that I had borrowed the book from can't remember it either. Any suggestions?

I have a habit of reading two or more books at the same time..While I am reading Heart of Darkness, I also read Harry Potter books...Of course, not at the same moment..I mean, reading one chapter of Heart of Darkness in the morning, then I switch to Harry Potter at night.

Does anyone do this? Is it healthy to do it? Do you recommend me to continue this habit?

Looking down upon the village at night, Huck sees “three or four lights twinkling, where there was sick folks, maybe….” What does Huck’s reference to “sick folks” suggest to you about the way his mind works? (page 16, par 1)

I have to do an essay on this topic (basically) and I was wondering what you all thought. Do you know of any good books or other sources that could help me research this? Or works to at least help me research what qualities or requirements are needed to make a work classic (or canonical).

Now, I have read my all-time favorite book, "Looking for Alaska." If you have read this book, you know that Alaska collects books that she likes in her library, and is determined to read them all. What are some classic books that could go in MY lifetime library? They COULD be classics, like The Illiad and The Oddessy, or they could be books that just came out that you have read and think are wonderful.

Beautiful in your eyes? how to respond to such a seemingly innocent lie, though, I'm sure you meant well, it's true, 'some of us do prefer illusion to despair', unfortunately I'm not one of them, not easily tricked or drawn in, of course it's a line and there are hooks in it. Stupid boys make fairly amusing toys, bendable, pose-able, completely disposable, weak and excitable, fully exploitable, unnumbered fools have fallen. Or, wait did I say that, how did that slip through the edit, idealistic interns think they can change the whole world, what I mean to say is thanks I know, greek scupture... but nothing compaired to you.

I am awaiting knee replacement and bored to death. Read every book in my house. Can you recommend? Something in paper back of course would be cheaper. Thanks. My interests: Mystery, True Life Stories (including people who have turned their lives around), Romance but not too sappy. THANKS. P.S. I have read all Ann Rules books.
