This might sound slightly weird, but years ago I read a book that was part of a series about teenagers and magic. In one of the books, there's a part where a girl is trapped in a tank (or something like it) full of water and can't move, even though she's still alive. It's some sort of form of torture. She's finally rescued, however, and during her time in the tank she is kept alive because her male friend/boyfriend has been cutting himself to keep her alive (don't ask me how...I can't remember). Anyway, I can't think of the name of that book for the life of me and the girl that I had borrowed the book from can't remember it either. Any suggestions?

Is Savior Darkly a novel that's out of print or...? I Google searched it and didn't find it.

In some way that reminds me of the movie "The Cell", written by Mark Protosevich and directed by Tarsem Singh (2000), and starring Jennifer Lopez and Vincent D'Onofrio.

But Wikipedia says that was based on an original script. And Internet Movie Database concurs. But I see that Protosevich also worked on a movie treatment of Richard Matheson's "I Am Legend" for a Ridley Scott, and I'm thinking maybe a teenager vampire story a la "Lost Boys" (1987), story by Janice Fischer. But I can't find any books by her on Amazon.
