What are some of the major points in his book capatilism and freedom

2007-03-12 17:22:40 · 1 answers · asked by lmso0 1

This is in one of the later chapters of the book, when Aunt Alexandra invited her missionary circle to tea. I don't have the book with me right now, but the quote went something like this:

"His food doesn't stick going down, does it?" (Miss Maudie said to Miss Grace Merriweather)

Miss Merriweather was talking about the blacks being grumpy about Tom Robinson's verdict, and how her own helper, Sophy, was also grumbling. (about how their own black servants have behaved badly ever since Tom Robinson's trial. )
Then she went on to talk about some people in town who thought they were doing the right thing, but in fact, they were 'blinded'(?). I assume she was talking about Atticus defending Tom Robinson.

Does anone have any views on it? And no, Sparknotes does not explain it.

It's not for homework or any project; I just wish to understand the book better. Thank you!

I need to find a book that deals with a post-apocalyptic theme or maybe even a dystopian world, where the main characters are two best friends. Anyone know a book that might be like this?

"Life" by charlotte bronte

Life, believe, is not a dream
So dark as sages say;
Oft a little morning rain
Foretells a pleasant day.
Sometimes there are clouds of gloom,
But these are transient all;
If the shower will make the roses bloom,
O why lament its fall?
Rapidly, merrily,
Life's sunny hours flit by,
Gratefully, cheerily
Enjoy them as they fly!
What though Death at times steps in,
And calls our Best away?
What though sorrow seems to win,
O'er hope, a heavy sway?
Yet Hope again elastic springs,
Unconquered, though she fell;
Still buoyant are her golden wings,
Still strong to bear us well.
Manfully, fearlessly,
The day of trial bear,
For gloriously, victoriously,
Can courage quell despair!

work as a whole? Does the choice of narrator(s) make an impact on the author's message (theme)?

Ok, it's about these two girls seperated 16 years ago, and finally meeting for the first time. Then they find out they were fathered by two dragons and have to stop their father from taking over the world. They have to put aside their own differences and work together to understand their powers. Not to mention dealing with really hot villians, fighting a crazed dragon and talking with their mother beyond the grave. Near the begining of the end, one of the girls betrays her sister, her true love and another dragon who might be her father...

So what do you guys think? Too much like a soap opera? Or does it need more? If your looking for a good read, this book should be out about January 2008. Theres going to be more than one of them too...

Signed,
Alexandria Starling
Co-Author of The Dragon Chronicles-The book of Sorrows

P.S: I'm looking for a publisher too. Send me a e-mail If any of y'all know one.

My list is:
"Jubilee"by Margaret Walker,
"The Coldest Winter Ever" by Sister Souljah,
"The Poisonwood Bible" by Barbara Kingsolver",
"The Sex Chronicles" by Zane(only for the mature readers lol),
"The Idiot" by Foyodor Dotoevsky,
"The Catcher In the Rye" by JD Salinger--I know he did something legally so nobody can turn his book into a movie but I think the movie would be interesting.

And I wish they would make White Oleander over because even though the cast was great, they left A LOT out of the movie that was originally in the book.

I developed a preschool curriculum that I want to self publish and sell on my website. I have also written a series of color picture books and a series of black and white books (for children to color) that accompanies the curriculum. I have an illustrator that I am working with.

What company should I use to publish my work so that I can sell proffessional copies on my website?
