Not sure what type of book you're looking for, but here are a few of my latest favorites:

Uglies, Pretties and Specials
Scott Westerfeld
8/10 (or a bit higher)
Trilogy set in the future. At age 16, you go from being an Ugly (normal) to a Pretty. You have an operation that changes your bone structure and skin, making you beautiful. Once you're recovered, your only job is to have fun - yes, party until you drop. One young woman (Tally) has lost her best friend, as he is already a Pretty. She's alone and meets up with another young woman. They share the same birthday. This other girl, though, decides she doesn't want the operation - she wants to live, so she runs away. She asks Tally to come with her, but she will not. However when Tally is taken in for her operation, she's told she can't have it unless she brings her friend back and leads them to The Smoke (where the runaways live.) And so it goes...

My Sister's Keeper
Jodi Picoult
8/10
One child was created to save another. When she was born, her stem cells were kept to help her sister in the future. She has leukemia, and her body continually breaks down. Now, in order to have a chance at survival, she needs a kidney. The younger girl goes to a lawyer to sue for medical emancipation. She says she wants to make decisions regarding her body from now on, even though without a kidney, her sister will surely die.

The Lovely Bones
Alice Sebold
8.5/10
A story told from the viewpoint of a 14 year old murder victim. It's a bit shocking, but well written. Details how the family copes with the girl's death, how it affects the community and those that live there. Same author wrote Lucky, a Memoir. This one deals with her rape the last day of her freshman year of college. Difficult topic, handled well.

Liked Kite Runner, too. Khaled Hosseini. Probably 7.5/10 only because the story gets kind of crazy with all the twists and turns and how they fit together - a little too convenient. It's about a boy that grows up in Afghanistan pre-Taliban, and what happens to him during and after, when he moves to the United States. I could "see" a lot of the story, which is what made it good.

Now I'm going to stop. Sometimes I get a little carried away!

Son of the Mob
by Gordon Korman
10/10: Hilarious teen romance, got me laughing a LOT
It's precisely what the title says - set in the present, the son of a gangster tries to get a girlfriend but has to hide from her the fact that he's a mobster's son. The bumpy journey along the way, with a few plot twists thrown in for good measure, is what this book is about. Funny, funny, funny. Don't miss it! You can also find the sequel out now.

Airborn
by Kenneth Oppel
10/10: Swashbuckling airborne (where else?) adventure that'll leave you starving for more

Matt, a cabin boy aboard an airship, dreams of piloting one of his very own. Meanwhile, he encounters a quirky heiress and his airship gets boarded by pirates. Singlehandedly, Matt saves his friends' lives and wins the friendship of the quirky heiress by helping her out with a family mystery. The sequel, Skybreaker, is out now.

Cuba 15
by Nancy Osa
10/10: a romantic comedy you're sure to enjoy

Violet Paz, an American girl of Polish-Mexican parentage, has to deal with the the rough-and-tumble life of a teenager, Speech Club, and on top of that, a quinceanero. Light-hearted, funny, dashed with a bit of romance - this is a winner.

Intensity
Dean Koontz
5stars!
This book is about a girl who goes home with her friend on a break from school. During the night a psychopath sneaks into the house and murders everyone in the house. The girl hides and the killer doesn't know she's there. She ends up crazily enough sneaking into the guys RV to try to take him out. Its a really good book and a fast read. It's the first Dean Koontz's book I read and I was hook ever since.

Authors to try: Dean Koontz, James Grippando, PJ Tracy, Jeffery Deaver.. just to name a few. It would take me forever to name every single book I have and have ever read by these authors. But they are all good I promise.

The Masada Scroll
Robert Vaughan and Paul Block
10/10
The son of the "good" thief that died next to Jesus was a follower of Jesus and wrote a gospel. During a dig, some archeologists find this gospel and are trying to authenticate it. The book often goes back in time to the writer of the scroll.

title: smashed: the story of a drunken girlhood
author: koren zailckas
rating: 9/10
opinion: it really shows what the world of girl teen drinking is about, like its not just a statistics book, its about how the author overcame her "im-not-addicted-but-i-get-wasted-everynight" type thing, it doesnt have a juicy plot or anything, but it really opened my eyes as to what goes on in a college aged girl's head. all in all, this was a very good read!!! i would reccomend it
