I want a novel or very interesting nonfiction book, but not a magazine. I do not read romances or fantasy. Who's read something good lately (can be recently written or not)? In a nutshell, what was it about? Thanks for any recommendations.

If I can get it at the library, even better.

I have a different than normal copy of, Of Mice And Men and I was wondering, was there anything in anyone else's copy where George tells Candy that "The Dream's Off" after Lenny accidentally kills Curly's wife? If so, I would be ecstatic if you could give me that quote. Any help would be much appreciated. =)

My sister is only sixteen and she has written this amazing science fiction novel during her school holidays. I was dumbfounded after reading it as the idea that she convayed is simply something that we don't really get to see in ordinery science fiction novels. It is indeed very fresh idea.... She is not so keen about it but I am taking this very seriously. I even think it can develop into a full length movie!!!! What can be my first step? Do you think sending the script to various publisher via the internet is reliable? please tell me what can i do...

His almost-book "If I Did It" could have spawned a whole new genre of literature: the "theoretical confession," where the author details exactly how his villainous acts would have been carried out...except of course that he did nothing of the sort. I'd like to know which books of this kind you'd like to see written. For starters, I'll volunteer two: "If I'd Really Gassed the Kurds," by Saddam Hussein, and "If I Were Really on Steroids," by Barry Bonds. Get it? Let's see what you can come up with...good luck.

I have written a book which I am revising. I want to send a query letter to an agent but don't know what a "great" one looks like. Does anyone have a website, or a letter I could use as a guide?

Also, where can I find a list of reputable agents?

Thanks for the help!

What are the priorities of the two groups that are emerging in the story? How does Jack justify his desire to kill a pig and does this desire fit into either groups' priorities?

This is the question I've given and i think there are two ways of catagorizing two groups; one would be little ones and older ones and the other would be Ralph's side and Jack side.

However when it comes to how Jack justifies his desire to kill a pig and what group's priorities is fit by this desire, I don't know what to answer.

Plz help me! I really need some help from you guys. Thanks

“The fact that man knows right from wrong proves his intellectual superiority to other creatures; but the fact that he can do wrong proves his moral inferiority to any creature that cannot.” - Mark Twain

What did he mean by this? I'd like to compare my interpretations.

Thanks :)

what is the significance of the robber's howling as a bear until he died, by the dogs? He was dressed up in the bear suit. He voluntarily did it. So right there, that shows that it is not like a "Metamorphosis" dealt by the gods, as in Ovid's Metamorphoses. His reasons for voluntarily doing it is also a critique of some ideas of "morality" behind Ovid's Metamorphoses. Then, usually in Ovid's book people make the sound of their animal because that's what they turned into, they really are that animal. Here in The Golden ***, the thief was acting it out as a bear, right until the end. They never found out he was human. Was it basically a metamorphosis like Ovid's works, but just, saving his humanity and giving him some credit? Is that what Apuleius is trying to say Ovid did not do for humans, in his work? And since the thief did escape with the dogs or no one else finally knowing he was human, -why- would Apuleius "let the bad guy win?"
