I have a different than normal copy of, Of Mice And Men and I was wondering, was there anything in anyone else's copy where George tells Candy that "The Dream's Off" after Lenny accidentally kills Curly's wife? If so, I would be ecstatic if you could give me that quote. Any help would be much appreciated. =)

I don't remeber there being such a quote but I think what "The Dream's Off" refers to the dream Candy, George, and his friend had of buying a house and some land to live on. They were going to combine therir cash together from their savings and paychecks.

No such quote exists in the original book. It also doesn't soound like Steinbeck, now does it. George isn't savy enough to say that, although he knows it. That's the point, he wouldn't come out and say that. Sorry, but as John Adams stated, "Facts are stubborn things."
