Mrs.A's daughter (Ellen) eloped with a poor guy,and Ellen dies after having a miscarriage. Mrs.A has a deep scar: she feels betrayed by her daughter,and always repeats to herself "if only she had listened to me!"

Then, a girl name Ann (16yrs old) becomes the ward of Mrs.A's handsome but apathetic cousin,Mr. Rutherford. Ann reminds Mrs.A of Ellen--Ann is spirited and strong-headed. Mrs.A feels it her duty to direct Ann down the right path."Ann will die like Ellen if she doesn't obey me!" thinks Mrs.A.

So, when Mr.Rutherford passes Charlote down to Mrs.A's care.Ann is devastated cuz she was in love with Mr.Rutherford (a childish infatuation?)

Mrs.A becomes a bit violent at times.She shatters Ann's self-confidence,and also makes Ann physically weak. Mrs.A feels that if Ann relies on her, mind and body, then Ann wont go the wrong path....

And then 3yrs later,Mr.Rutherford returns,and sees how much Ann has changed. Ann blames him for what she has become.There's romance too~

Help with my story!?
Charlotte goes under the gaurdianship of her distant cousin, Mr. Rutherford. (What should is character be like?? The "arrogant and cold" kinda character seems too cliche these days.....but then I don't want him to be a friendly gentleman. Doesn't work out with me) Charlotte falls in love with him.......but why shouldn't Mr. Rutherford fall in love with her?? She's 16 yrs old at this time, and when he leaves her, and returns from Paris 3 years later to see she's all grown up he falls in love with her??? I don't know, give me to physcological reason of why Mr. Rutherford shouldn't like Charlotte in the beginning. Like....he likes her......but not enough??

Im searching for a book I read when I was younger, its about a family who move into a new house and the father and son discover a volcano in the basement, they keep this a secret from the rest of the family until the end of the book. i am 33 years old, my grandparents and mother, came into uk after the uprising in 56. I have heard lots of stories from them and have for years wanted to write it all down. I have got the basis of a story i want to wirte but i have never done this before and i am not sure how to get started. Could someone plase explain this to me? I have read the book and I just don't see it.. decent.. but I don't understand the point of it all. And why it is so acclaimed.

Also, why do all the whacko's get so into it? Weren't there a couple murders who had the book on them or something?

These days i am reading the book Thus Spake Zarathustra, by Friedrich Nietzsche. Difficult is the book, i think, many for me need explaining. The Doubleday Encyclopedias (my grandmothers) are a complete set and copyrighted 1931. They are in excellent condition. Interesting to read how World War I was called the Great War because WWII hadn't happened yet.

The Shakespeare set is a hard cover 18 volume arrangement of all his plays. They are in excellent condition and copyrighted 1909.

Can anyone hazard a guess as to what these books might be worth or direct me to some business or person who might be interested in buying them?

im at the part where suzie's dad is at ray's house talking to his mother and kind of arguing w/ her...my mom also read it and said it was a weird yet good book...its it realy like weird and stuff???
