Dean Koontz! I used to read all of John Sauls stuff but got tired of it as he always kills off a lot of his main characters. I can't remember exactly what book it was (I read so many of his) but he killed off 3 characters in 1 sentence. I was shocked and had to keep re-reading the sentence to make sure I had not misunderstood! That was pretty much the last book I read by him. I still read everything Dean Koontz writes and still love his work. (after 12 years of reading his stuff)

I like Dean Koontz because he is the only author of the two that I have read. His novel, Velocity, is one of my favorites. I have no idea who is John Saul. I am sorry if I have offended any John Saul fans.

Neither. Stephen King rules the world of horror.

But, given the question, I would have to choose, B. Dean Koontz.
While both of the authors sometimes write like are using a plot wheel to create their stories--leaving them without any heart or soul--Dean Koontz has hit a few deep novels that don't feel so much like beating a deadline book.

i have to vote john saul (sorry dean). i have read probably 40 of dean koontz's books (went thru a spell in high school)... his books are very fast reads and entertaining. he is not a bad author. i wish him no ill will. however... a computer could write his books (like they did for v.c.andrews). the outline is almost always the same: young child in trouble, adults come to rescue, fall in love with each other, the end. insert different plot sections. i tired of it after a while. tho, he did redeem himself a little with the blind dj books (the name escapes me... no fear? or something). i prefer john saul. for those who like stephen king, may i suggest peter straub. they have written books together that tie into the dark tower series.
