Sometimes you read a book and look forward to seeing it made into a movie. But sometimes you see a movie and it inspires you to want to read the book. I'm opening a bookstore soon, and I want to know which books that have been made into movies I should especially look for.

I.e., with regards to Snape and Dumbledore. Throughout the series, Snape has been a very ambiguous character. We constantly find ourselves asking which side he is really on--the 'good' side or Voldemort's side. However, Dumbledore, the wisest character in the H.P. world, has continuously insisted that Snape's true loyalties lie with the good side.

Considering what Snape did at the end of the last book, it is difficult to still think Snape might be on the good side. Did Dumbledore die a naive fool, tricked by Snape all along? Or was it merely that his singular weakness was an overwhelming desire to see the good in all people? Do you think there is any chance Snape might still be a 'good guy' after this terrible act? Don't forget, Snape has saved Harry's life at least once. What are the thematic implications if Snape is really evil?

it is a site you join to try to make the world a free library...what you do after you join is you read a book, register it with them, you put the registration number in the book along with a greeting telling whoever finds the book to read it, then go to the web site and register it, then release it....i have released like twenty books and never a one has been found and registered....

I was in love with a foreigner. During that process I disclosed many about my respected teacher to her. After the affair, she has threatened me that if I talk about me ( hurt ) her, she will ruin my career as she will tell some truths and many lies. And people will trust her as there will be truths in them. Another thing is taht she has told me that in future she may involve embassy as my love letters, SMS are with her, and impose the sexual harrasment case on me. I am thinking and not finding any way.
What should I do?
Should I beg pardon from her? ( I am sorry, please don't do this)
or should I tell the things to my teacher.
or any other advice...
Plase don't play jokes....
I am worried.
May God help you...

I'm wondering if anyone knows about this website, because I'm starting to think it might be some type of money-making scam.

Anyway, I wrote one poem a couple of years ago for my literature class, and it is pretty good. So I submitted it at Poetry.com for a chance to win $500 or something.

Then I received a letter in the mail from them saying it was "reviewed by their panel" and selected to reach the Semi-Finals etc. and it will be published in their book, "Immortal Verses."

They said I can buy a copy of the book for like $49 or something.

Is this just a scam? Aren't they probably writing ever single person who submitted their poem and telling them they are so great and they will go to the Semi-Finals etc. just so they can hope that person will be flattered and buy a book?

I don't trust them. I'm not buying nothing. Just wanted to see if anyone else knew something about them.

For Christmas, I give books to all of the kids I know. I like to read the books before giving them, partly because I want to be sure they're appropriate, and partly because I like to be able to talk to them about the books. I've already given books like Ender's Game, Eragon, The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, Hoot, Harry Potter - the obvious ones. I'd prefer paperback.

I need suggestions for books for a couple of 11 -14 year old boys, one of whom is into WWII and outdoorsy stuff, and another who likes science fiction. Also, any "best reads" for new readers and un-readers (I have a couple of toddlers and babies on the list)?

I'm planning to give it for the school magazine.

I dreamt of a flower,
a pretty yellow flower
a fairly charming yellow flower
One so beautiful, One so wonderful
And shining so bright
brighter than even the sun
in the soft sunlight
as it moves with the calm breeze
as gentle and as graceful as it
Happy as in happiness, joyful as in joyfulness,
the flower is,
Pleasure as immense, Delight as intense
the flower is,
as it enjoys itself in this pleasant weather
A towering monument of youth and glory,
Standing tall, standing proud
Believing it would be like this forever.

Suddenly, the wind stopped
the sky grew dark
the sun dropped and disappeared
It became bitter cold, the flower bent
Frost covered its leaves, It started to shiver
as all the life was sucked from it,
with neither pride nor glory
it fell and dropped to the ground
The flower died, decayed and withered away.

Why such a sad ending
to a happy beginning ?

This book is out of print but was published by Writers and Readers publishing cooperative Ltd, in association with Unwin paperbacks. A secondhand copy or if anyone knows about it or have seen or hear of where else I can find a copy would help. Thanks

Has anybody read Dean Koontz's book 'The Husband' and found the ending to be rather weak? The rest of the book was great but I felt he didn't tie up all the lose ends.

There is a poem from English class that I really like, but I had this class years ago. In the poem, a soldier shoots his enemy (possibly during WW 2) and grieves that they would have been great friends if they weren't enemies. Can you identify the name and author?

There are 2 critical assesment of Paul's Case.

Do you think Paul worships 'glamour and money and the things money can buy' and that Paul is under a delusion that Cordelia Street is a negative place?

or

Paul is a victim of the Industrial Revolution, which robbed their freedom and made him unable to experience art?

Which one do you agree with?

Thanks :)

I am looking for a new humor author to read. I've cleaned out Dave Barry, and don't know who to start next. I've read the books by Drew Carey and Tim Allen. Now I'm looking for someone that writes more than just one book, and is really funny! (I don't care if the humor is a litle raunchy, as long as it's funny.)
