a child called it by dave pelzer is a really good book...once you pick it up you can't put it down and the good thing is there are sequels so they will keep you busy for a long time=)

I just finished a book called "A Mango-Shaped Space" by Wendy Mass. Literally JUST finished it - the tears are still drying on my shirt. It's in the children's or young adult section, but I would highly recommend it for anyone. It's about a 12 year old girl who sees colors associated with numbers, letters, and sounds. It isn't science fiction - this really does exist. It's called Synesthesia. The story is very well written - funny at times, sad at others. I bought the book as a Christmas gift (I give books to all of the kids I know, and I like to read them first). I'm going to have to buy a second copy, because this is a keeper.

The Railway Man. About a POW's true story of when he was helping to build the Burma railway in the 2nd world war. Very profound.

Moving.

A very good book is Empire falls! It took me 3 and a half months but i'm a slow reader but if you read it watch the movie too, its an HBO mini-movie, brilliant. Though it is very explicite in cursing and other things but nonetheless great story.
