I think I read this somewhere in Derrida (I'll never get those 5 months back). Please include a reference or explanation.

I'm an avid reader of fantasy, but unfortunately my school library has a definite lack of books that fall into that category. I've read the best known ones (Lord of the Rings, the Chronicles of Narnia, Harry Potter) and I'm just looking for some recommendation of other good, but probably lesser known works.

PS -- Any science fiction or supernatual recommendation would be welcome as well.

Mid-Term Break

I sat all morning in the college sick bay
Counting bells knelling classes to a close.
At two o'clock our neighbors drove me home.

In the porch I met my father crying-
He had always taken funerals in his stride-
And Big Jim Evans saying it was a hard blow.

The baby cooed and laughed and rocked the pram
When I came in, and I was embarrassed
By old men standing up to shake my hand

And tell me they were "sorry for my trouble,"
Whispers informed strangers I was the eldest,
Away at school, as my mother held my hand

In hers and coughed out angry tearless sighs.
At ten o'clock the ambulance arrived
With the corpse, stanched and bandaged by the nurse.

Next morning I went up into the room. Snowdrops
And candles soothed the bedside; I saw him
For the first time in six weeks. Paler now,

Wearing a poppy bruise on his left temple,
He lay in the four foot box as in his cot.
No gaudy scars, the bumper knocked him clear.

The book i've written does not give piercing insrtuction- a brief synopis: Ch-1, "tools of the trade"...Every piercing tool you can imagine. Ch-2, "Sterilization and preventetive measures"...Prevention of cross contamination, different types of sterilization procedures, illustrated structure of the human skin, common skin diseases and the DANGERS OF BEING PIERCED OR PIERCING OUTSIDE OF A STERILE ENVIRONMENT. Ch-3, "The healing process"...How the human body heals and recovers from simple trauma (piercing), what some of the common problems are and how to correct them. Ch-4, "Material construction"...All the differnt types of materials use for professional piercing and why those materials are used; the american standard steel coding system. Ch-5, "Attitude and common sense" which brings me to the actual question:
Does anyone see anything that even remotely eludes to piercing at home? No. Let's not jump to conclusions or be rude, K? I don't advocate "at home piercing". Try again.

It was a small book, with a hard cover, and was about a girl who sat in front of a window with wet hair trying to catch pneumonia - it might have been a horror book (but was a children's book because it was in the school library in the elementary school). I don't know what it was called or who wrote it. Can anybody help??

I heard that it means "spouse (in a pejorative way) or a burden." But I read a sentence in a book as follows: "... I have decided not to grow up tame like the others who lay their necks on the threshold waiting for the ball and chain." What does it mean?

For a book that gave you all of the basics about becoming a professional piercing apprentice? I've written "The Piercing Apprentices' Notebook Volume I" and before publication I need to know what to charge. The book is 200+ pages, all the pics are in blazing, full color and there's not another one like it on the market.
Oh, I almost forgot! I've been piercing for over 15 years!!!
Tattoo books of this nature sell for $80-$120. So whaddya think?

I like real-life fiction books mostly, like Brave New Girl and Speak, as well as nonfiction, such as Girl, Interrupted. Basically I like darker books, but nothing like vampires or anything like that. I also enjoy poetry (Cisneros, Bukowski). But I am out of books! Read any good ones lately?
