If you are a poet, how much about poetry do you know? Are you always learning new stuff or do you only write?

I was ten years old when the 9/11 attacks happened so my mom gave a poem someone had written about it to help me understand things better. It was a spoof of Dr. Suesses how the Grinch stole christmas. I don't remember the title but does anyone know where I can find this poem?

I am writing a YA horror novel and I was wondering how long it should be? (publishing companies go by words rather than pages). I don't want to make it too long, but I don't want to make it too short either. A normal sized adult novel, for example, is about 50,000 words long.

Thanks!!!

I have written a book and I'm currently in the process of re-editing it. My dream is for my book to become a bestseller. I also want to be known as the youngest author ever. Who is the youngest anyway? I'm only 14. I know it will happen! What do I do know? What's the whole, entire process? I want to be published by a trustworthy and well-known publisher. Please give me a good answer! Thanks!

I've not finished it yet, but so far I'm disappointed. It reads like a melodramatic soap opera. I know it's supposed to be a classic, and I'll finish it, but I so far can't see this as being one of the "great books."

What do you think?

good is an adjective, like happy or sad. well is an adverb, like happily or sadly. if "i feel happily" doesn't make sense, then surely it can't be "well," right?

In Oedipus Rex, Thebes is suffering from a plague because of the king's secret -- crops are blighted, children are born dead, etc. In Macbeth, all sorts of unnatural things happen (e.g. horses eat each other) when Macbeth kills Duncan and becomes king. The evil in the royal house is physically manifested in misfortune among his people.

Isn't there a literary term for that?

This is taken from a poem that I am reading and am trying to translate. Here's the poem...Daily the wind-flowers age, and so do I. Happiness, long-deferred, is deferred again. Of sand and ocean, the horizon line lies in the middle distance of the dream. Because our lives cannot be woven together, my fingers plait the same grassers, over and over.

I need the page numbers in the Thomas Kuhn book, "The Structure of Scientific Revolutions" for these two quotes:

* the history of science has been marked by a “series of peaceful interludes punctuated by intellectually violent revolutions.”

*“one conceptual world view is replaced by another.”

I've looked and looked in the book and can't find them.

Lily, Madison, and Vanessa are not at all friends. Lily just moved from California, Madison just moved from Washington, and Vanessa just moved from Florida. All girls are moving to the same place and they will become friends from one mistake.

On July 2nd three girls moved to the same town. They won’t even notice each other until the next day so let’s skip to then.

Lily was walking down the street ready to go to the local diner with her older sister when she bumped into some strange girl with four books in her hand and the newspaper in front of her face.
“ Oh, I’m so sorry! I should be more careful!”
“It’s fine.” Lily said as she helped the girl pick up her books.
“Hi! I’m Vanessa.”
“Hi Vanessa, I’m Lily.”
“Hey, I just moved here yesterday could you tell me where a place to eat is?”
“Um… Well my sister and I are going to the local Diner. I’ll ask my sister if you can come with us.”
“Thanks.”
Lily went over and asked her sister if Vanessa could come with them to the diner.
“C’mon Vanessa let’s go!”
“Sorry!”
“My sister is meeting her friend there so we can talk.”

When they walked inside the diner they saw that all the tables were full. Lily’s sister Julia went to her friend’s table. And Lily and Vanessa were alone to find a table.
They saw a table with a girl there that looked about their age.
“Hey… Um… are you saving that spot for anyone?” Lily said to the girl.
“I don’t think so.” The girl said as she smiled.
“Thank you. I’m Lily. And this is Vanessa.”
“Hi. I’m Madison.”
“We’re both new in this town could you tell us where the nearest park is?”
“Your both new? Well I have one slight problem. I just moved here too. Where did you guys move from?”
“I moved from California” Lily said to both of them.
“I moved from Florida” Vanessa said shyly.
Both Lily and Madison’s mouths’ dropped open.
“Wow! I moved from Washington. So Lily and I were at least a few hundred miles away. But Florida…Wow!”
“Well, I know that it was a much easier move for me!” Vanessa said with enthusiasm.
“Yeah, both of us moved across the country.” Lily said as she looked at Madison.

“Do both of you live near here? I do.” Madison asked.
“I do. What about you Vanessa?”
“Yeah. I do.”
“Cool. Hey Lily, Vanessa? Would you like to come to my house today?”
“I’ll ask my sister.” Lily ran over to her sister.
“I would need to call my mom and tell her… But I bet you I’ll be able to.”
“Okay, Julia said it’s okay.”

Vanessa and Lily heard a cell phone ring they suspected that it was one of the adults nearby but no. It was Madison’s cell phone.

“Hello?” Madison said into her cell phone
“Hey Madi, Don’t have anyone over. I know you, you probably already have plans for people to come over today”
Madison smiled shyly.
“Just 1 exception! Please! Mom, I cleaned my room and the house! Please?!”
“Okay. But this is the only exception!”

Madison, Vanessa, and Lily went down the street when a person came up and asked an unusual question.

“Hi! Could I have autograph?” A girl that was about 10 years old came and asked her.
“Why would you want my autograph?”
“Because! Your famous!”
“F-Famous? No, no I’m Vanessa a normal weird person!”
