I've not finished it yet, but so far I'm disappointed. It reads like a melodramatic soap opera. I know it's supposed to be a classic, and I'll finish it, but I so far can't see this as being one of the "great books."

What do you think?

The movie is different from the book. Count Mont Christo used his money to buy power and for sometimes I think he is God himself. Was it Alexander Dumas' s obsession? Anyway, the phylosophy of the story is shown at the end when Count of Mont Christ nearly lost himself with his thirst for revenge; it means money you use to evil things to others-even for revenge can be an evil thing to yourself. Luckily, our hero saw this just in time. I like him at this moment.

I saw the movie when it came and enjoyed it immensely. When I saw it on sale at Barnes and Noble, I couldn't help but buy it.

The movie and book were completely different, while the movie is very fun isn't nothing to how fun and exciting the book can get.

Towards the middle, I felt that book slowed down a bit and I got slightly confused over so many characters (I think it was because I was comparing the book and movie) but once the pace picked it... it was... well.... is it cliche to say a non stop action ride???

Don't give up on Dantes yet...

The movie is absolutely nothing like the book, so don't even try to compare them. Yes, there are some "soap opera" parts, but definitely read the book through to the end; it's worth it.
