Ha ha, thats awesome Kiki! Just before I went to university I was kinda like that. Whenever my friends went away I would ask them to bring me back some dirt from wherever they went. So I have dirt from Toronto, Los Angeles, Hawaii, Paris, India and China. It's bloody ace! But i'm not sure what to do with them now(!)
Nowadays. i don't really collect anything really. I like anything retro, like old postcards, 80's t-shirts (the brown, white, orange and red ones!), things like cinema ticket stubs. I think it's because i'm such a nostalgic guy. I even have every email from 1999 saved so that I can see how I changed from year to year. And I have so much!
One thing I wish I had done, was to take a photograph of every friend I had and write their name on the back. I think back to my early school days and I can see their face all blury but I don't know their names. I sometimes wonder what they're doing now and if they're married. It's sad how we can spend a large time of our childhood with people who in a matter of a few years simply disappear from our lives.

I collect signed first editions of a few current mystery authors.
When I lived in Los Angeles I used to get to meet the authors because the book-signing tours usually don't miss that big a city. I'm in Florida now and hardly get a chance to meet the authors any more and I've been thinking about selling my collection.

I collect books. I have first printings of a few of Roger Zelazny's novels (worthless to anyone but another Zelazny fanatic, I'm sure, but I bought 'em because I wanted them, not because of some possible resale value), and whenever I really like work by a certain author, I collect EVERYTHING by that author. (I still don't have Book of Counted Sorrows, by Dean Koontz. Arrghh!) I've even bought books as souveniers when I go places... My copy of A Dark Travelling was purchased in Denmark, for example.
Collecting rocks isn't weird. I want a pet trilobite; I'd name it "Ben." (As in, "Where did you dig up that old fossil?"...)

I now collect animal critters playing guitars. Found in most Dollar Stores, they only cost a buck and gather lots of dust.

I have a few dolls. I collect fabric and have lots of it. I use it to make quilts for the Linus Project for at risk children and survivors of Katrina. I also make clothing to give to the needy.

I didn't realize I was collecting kitchy ceramic planters until I took a fresh look at the twenty-some in my house!
Unsolicited sidenote: after seeing countless left-behind collections at estate auctions...collect it if you LOVE it...otherwise, use your $$$ for something that makes you happy NOW.

I love collecting old cookbooks, and romances novels. Beside collecting cups and saucers, tea sets, and dolls I also collect movies, and sports autographs.

I guess I can say I collect books, especially if I can get them for free. Anyone say "free books" and I'm there in a jiffy.

Maps. I love them. I don't have anything too exotic but I'm too cheap to spend a lot of money on them. I usually find them in thrift shops and antique stores.
