I was just packing up some of my books and came across The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein. I think it has to be the best book I have ever read it still makes me cry to this day!

i can't say i have one overall fav book. usually my favorite book is the one i'm reading at the moment (for example, right now i'm reading the Nighside series by Simon R. Green and it's GOOD!).

but if i had to give one name... one book title... it would have to be "the moon is a harsh mistress" my Robert A. Heinlein. while Shel Silverstein's books are a joy to read (trust me, i have all of them and read them frequently to my nephew) i've always like the futuristic realism and characters from Heinlein's book (especially that extra dash of revolution thrown in).

oooh, my favourite book is "the godfather" by mario puzo. I know, it's no shakespeare. But a book which i could not put down. Even now, after i've read it like 10 times I still can't put it down! It definately helped me to becomes less shy about myself. In these mafia people I saw a glimpse of how their life was in many ways more real than mine and I understand that sometimes in life, we have to be confident (even to the point of arrogance) to acheive certain things in life. And it's the charachters own self belief (evident in all of Puzo's books) that grabbed me.

Also Calvino's Baron in the tree's is a great read, especially the bit when the baron and viola are in love, it's so believeable!
