Emerson---> “It is easy in the world to live after the world’s opinion; it is easy in solitude to live after our own; but the great man is he who in the midst of the crowd keeps with perfect sweetness the independence of solitude.”

What Emerson is saying is-->
it is simple to let others decide how one person should live. He defines the wise one as a person who will maintain his or her own values while living in the busy world.

Sartre------> "Does that mean that i should abandon myself to quietism? No. First, I should involve myself; then act on the old saw, 'nothing ventured, nothing gained.' Nor does it mean that i shouldn't belong to a party, but rather that i shall have no illusions and shall do what i can."

This question is simply meant to cause deep, possibly philosophical thinking. If one believes in God, and that God is all powerful and all knowing, then surely there can be no true free will. It is said that God gave man free will, but if God is all knowing, then that would mean he/she has all the knowledge of every choices outcome that every individual makes. Therefore, if the outcome is already known, then the choice is predetermined, and free will is non-existent. Thoughts?

You are dying all your enimies surround you. You have the power to end the world and destroy everything annihilating this imperfect human race once in for all then in the wake of the destruction a new planet forms and animals once again reign in harmony without the human defect. You have the power to destroy your enimies and die forgotten. Or you could Erase there memories of your enimies so they wouldnt know what happened and Purify the planet and save the animals along with the humans from global warming and other human caused disasters. Or there can be a 4th choice that is made up entirely on your own? Either select one and add your own opinions or make up your own ending. Person with best answer wins Goodluck

All you have to do is fill in the blanks. If you're game for it?

(Or you could add another fifty thousand words and have a novel.)

Thankful Angel

Once upon a day ago
i swore i'd end it all
I had the rope with wich i'd hang;
But then i heard your call
You told me i was beautiful
A line i've solemn heard
You told me i was worth much more
My sickness you've now cured
Thank you for your lines of love
Please know you've saved a life
Now i'm ready to move on
You've minimized my strife

In Western culture, we approach insults, criticisms, put downs and such as issues to be addressed. These are situations that can provoke anger, embarrassment, humiliation, etc.

In Easter philosophies, such as Buddhism, the criticism is to be appreciated and welcomed. The Eastern philosophies view this behaviour as something that helps to destroy the ego.

Are you decidedly Eastern or Western on the issue?

I know I definately did something wrong.
Okay, I have a Canon Rebel K2 non-date model and when I was over at my friend's house changing the film, I accidentally pressed down on the little rubber strips that block the hole that the film is exposed to. All of them from the top down are overlapping on top of each other, but the bottom strip, which is longer than the rest, sort of bows to the left instead of standing straight.

If you know what it is/how I can fix it please tell me.

I was reading shoeless joe today and there was this one line that was like "If it makes you happy, then do it," or something along those lines. And for some reason, that hit me, hard.

I feel like I haven't been living my life the way I want to. Like something is holding me back. I dont care about having an average high paying job. Possessions dont mean anything to me. I would much rather be remembered for who I was as a person, then what kind of car I drove. Does that mean theres something wrong with me? I want to learn from the world. I crave a different environment and culture. I want some excitement in my life.

I guess Im trying to find myself. Where I belong in the world. I sometimes wish I knew exactly what I want to do with my life. Mostly Im afraid Ill never be able to get that excitment I want and Ill wind up in a 5x5 cubicle working for some bald-headed fatso. I know I dont want that, but what do I want?

help please?

Do you think that it is better to let your emotions show and vent when you feel something is bothering you. Or do you think that you should keep it to yourself and try to be a more positive person?

Hey, I was looking into a Nikon film camera (Dont know which one yet) and I was just wanting to know, is film worth investing in? I know some companies still make film, but what about printing places such as Walmart, Walgreens, and Target? Will they still print in the forseeable future? I am planning to develop the film myself. Just wondering.
