I'm going for UIL prose here and we have to do a piece that is fiction and one by an author born in the south. States like Lousianna, North and South Carolina, Tennesee, Virginia, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, and I think Missouri. Anyone that can help me it would be a great deal of gratitude towards you and if you can give me the book it's from thanks

The South has produced extraordinary writers over the past century. To me, these are a few of the most accessible:

Any of Eudora Welty's short stories.

Willie Morris, My Dog Skip

Walker Percy, The Moviegoer

Harper Lee, To Kill A Mockingbird

Truman Capote, Christmas Story

Rick Bragg, All Over But the Shouting (Non fiction)

Do Faulkner's "A Rose for Emily" or one of Edgar Alan Poe's humorous pieces.
