I live in the groundfloor of a fourplex, the whole building is mostly wood, and I can hear everything my neighbor on top of me does, on top of that, he uses his unit as a gym, so i could really hear thumping all the time. I know it is not his fault with the squeaky building, I don't want to sound mean or unfriendly, what is the best thing to do?

On C-SPAN I I, I am watching a presentation given by Philip Zimbardo who is the author of the new book, THE LUCIFER EFFECT: UNDERSTANDING HOW GOOD PEOPLE TURN EVIL.

Did the negative energy of the neocons continue to take the same predictable downward spiral that the mendacious logic of the Nazis took?

I've never been much of a flexible person, so I'm going to need a lot of work. I want to know how to do the spits both ways (right leg in front, left leg in front, and legs spread apart)

Please tell me what stretches to do, and how long to hold them!

Any information, photographs, videos, or personal experiences would be MUCH appreciated!

I am a Westerner myself and why is that "most' others like myself have a tendency to disrespect older folks, impatient, have sex before marriage, more selfish, less loyal and patriotic to ones country?

Remember back in the 50's and 60's when respect and honor is paramount? When young men were gentlemens to young ladies and these ladies dressed and acted in modesty. Now we have young girls dressing up like hookers and young men acting like thugs, especially in the Western culture. Whats even worse is that most of us idolize Westerners like Paris Hilton, Britney Spears, Jenna Jameson, and Snoop Dogg. The young generations in other countries are also looking up to these icons.

We all know these people live superficial lives and we may deny the fact that we are superficial ourselves, however, the reality is that most of us who lives like this are living empty lives that lack significance. The end result will be depression.

I love oak trees

today feels like suicide,
cyanide and cigarettes.
simple wishes,
and silly regrets.

heavy heartbeats,
and lonely rhythms,
here inside this prison.

today feels like an oak tree
rough and rooted deep.
old tired face,
no true knowledge of its place.

stretching towards hell,
reaching words heaven,
equally torn, deeply forlorn.

tomorrow feels like monotony,
more same than change.
more hurt than there ought to be.

yesterday feels like
a dream,
yesterday feels like scars and screams,
superficial thoughts and steam.

anyone have any thoughts or advice on this poem?

Some people believe ignorance and stupidity are synonyms. Do people just not know the correct definitions of each, or is it a reasonable mistake? Why can they be perceived as synonymous, and what makes them two totally different terms.

I personnally don't understand banned books in public schools, with the exception of books like Madonna's "Sex". Books like the Adventures of Huckleberry Finn and Catcher in the Rye are considered great literary works but are often challenged. Others like the Bridge to Terabithia and the Harry Potter series help with increasing not only imagination but the interest of reading. Without books being allowed to explore fantasy people can't learn to "think outside the box." I don't believe books should be banned execpt for sexual content or explicit language (in which case banned only from elementary and middle schools). What do you think?
