In addition to those two international incidents, there have been over 20 close calls where nukes were close to being launched, but at the time of each incident, the international community did not know what was going on behind the scenes.

There was the NORAD training incident in the late 70s, and several false alarms on Russian's early warning system in the early 80s and 90s, which came close to nuclear launches.

The Berlin Airlift (blockade of Berlin), the Suez Crisis, the Bay of Pigs attack, the shooting down of Francis Powers in his U2 spyplane, the Cuban Missile Crisis, the arrest of Julius Rosenburg, the exposure of the Cambridge Spy Ring... there were many key incidents in the Cold War.
