I heard somewhere once that behind every joke is a grain of truth, that people may use humour as a sneaky way to voice their true feelings (which admittedly I have done sometimes). It makes it more permissible to say harsh or unsavoury things if you follow it with "It was a joke! I was only kidding!"

Seriously, what do you think? And does anyone happen to know a quote relating to my question? (It may have been Freud that said it...ok it's pure laziness on my part not looking it up myself!)

:)

Wow, I was surprised at how many people agreed with me on this one. Of course it makes a sound. First of all, insects and animals can hear it.

And if you want proof, just put a camcorder there, clear out all the people, animal, and insects, and press the record button. The camcorder will record both video and AUDIO. The camcorder will not tell itself - "Hmmm, there is no living form around me, I guess I will turn off the sound". So there is your proof right there. I dare you to debate that if you feel there would be no sound.

Whoever made up that question was smoking something really good and should be tarred and feathered :-)

And for those of you who still think there is no sound, well, I can't help you there.

Would someone please tell me, exactly where is/was Gaul? I had always thought it was present day France. Others have said it was more on the Iberian Penninsula. Thanks in advance. Susan

I recently saw an extremely large evangelical church and was shocked by the complexity of the lighting/ sound/ projection set-ups it had. Do they hire professional theatre technicians to run these set-ups? If so, what is their pay-scale like (I can only imagine how much money these people must have.)

Does anyone know what Aristotle's formless matter is? What does it have to do with the "rabbit and wolf" analogy?

I'm seeking a SIMPLE version of a History of PDQ Bach. So far, I learn that he is "the least child of the Great musical composer, Johannes Sebastian Bach."
PDQ was so relented that when his family referred to him, they used backward dates (1807-1742.)
What other "tid-bits" of information can be dug up about this not-for-longed musical composer?
Thanks for all references.

This question was brought up in one of my classes, and I was disappointed in the lack of discussion about it. I have my own thoughts about it; I'd like to know what others think.

Think about if government rigidly controlled people's sexual practices. Or just tell me the first ideas/concerns that come to mind when you think of a partnership between sexuality and nationhood.

Looking forward to your responses ...
