What a beautful quote from a beautiful man. I can see why you might not fully understand the second part. Pride is an emotion we dont see that much anymore. It was much more common among The Greatest Generation - the people of the Depression and the Second World War. If someone offered them 200 dollars, their pride would have told them to say "I can get by with 100 - let someone else have the rest." My grandmother would have been horrified to know that she had 200 dollars when someone else had nothing. See? That was her pride - to share and make do. We seem to have lost that kind of pride somewhere along the way. We've replaced that quote with Wall Street's "Greed is Good" ... We need to see more of that pride return to the world. C.

When someone is "Generous" , he's willing to give more than to receive. i think the "Generosity" part is understandable. As for "Pride", when someone has pride, he's not willing to give, nor to receive, because his pride prevents him from doing so. And as Claudianus
said : "Pride sullies the noblest character".

It's pretty self explanatory. Generosity is sacrificing your well being for the benefit of others. Pride is refusing help you need.

generosity is giving more than you can afford but pride is thinking you're 'good' because you took less than you need.
