Unfortunately, probably not much - like maybe $10. However, it would be very helpful to have more info like:

actual title
condition of book
type of covers (hardback, paperback, flexible leather, etc.)
size
where you got it from (antique store, family, etc.)

Also, little things like: are the pages torn and frayed or flat and clean? are there pencil/pen markings or names in the book? are there old prayer cards laid between the pages? is the entire book in German or is it a combo of German and English, for example?

Sometimes a book is worth more money because of what it is made of or who owned it etc. than what the actual content is.

Hope this helps you out some?

www.bestbookbuys.com compiles inventory of a variety of online book dealers, including the big ones like half.com, powells, alibris and abebooks. You can see what other people are trying to sell their copies for. Make sure you match the edition if there is more than one.

ebay has a feature that will email you when a listing that meets your criteria is listed, so you don't have to check every few days. This way, you can see what things actually sell for, not just the asking price. You can also search the last 30 days of their auctions to see what has sold recently.

Old books can be very valuable, or practically worthless. It depends on condition and availability, and, of course, demand.
