Would someone please tell me, exactly where is/was Gaul? I had always thought it was present day France. Others have said it was more on the Iberian Penninsula. Thanks in advance. Susan

Raindog is pretty much correct. Award him full points. Gaul corresponds to modern France, Belgium, and half of the modern Netherlands. The Iberian penninsula was Hispania.

Gaul covered most of what is today France and Germany.

That's a rough estimate of course, the boarders back then were not as exact as today, unless they were seperated by a river or something.

Yes, indeed, modern day France. It was a northwestern Roman province -- part of the direct Roman political influence at the time of the birth of Christ. To the northeast was the province of Belgica and to the southwest was the provence of Hispania.
