I need to choose three people (non-American) who are influential and most succesful in what they did. For ex- Ghandi, and two other people (all helped in some kind of independence movement)

It can be anybody, but they have to be non-American.
-writers
-generals
-kings/queens
-religious leaders
-politicians
-artists
-greatest man ( ex: Caesar, Alexander the Great, Cromwell)

i want to stay towards the Global Studies topic....which three people should I write on?

I come across people on a daily basis who say they can't shovel snow or do manual labor because of asthma or some other illness. In the book it perhaps was just laziness or a case of hypochondria but I was wondering if there was something medically legitamate (even slightly) that we could ascribe to him or maybe even an old common belief of the time that might make sense. [ I know there are some geniuses out there so looking forward to some answers :o) ]

I posted a question earlier today about futuristic/dystopian fiction (the link for this is below) and had lots of really good responses, but...
I'd also like to know of any books with similar dystopian/utopian/futuristic/political themes but that also have a serious passion/romance running through them. There seem to be lots of sci-fi novels that fit most of the bill, but not so many with a little more poetry and emotional depth to them (without being melodramatic), or with first person, intense narratives.
Any more ideas?

Can anyone offer some advice to a voracious reader whose insatiable hunger for fantasy is causing her cruel torment? In other words, I’ve read pretty much every fantasy book that I can think of, aside from those paperback, beach novels that offer nothing more interesting than a few Harry Potter rip-off moments. Could anyone suggest some delightful fantasy novels? I will read short stories, but I prefer novels when it comes to fantasy. I like fresh, imaginative tales that just sparkle with magic. I do not want to read anything that is poorly written, cliché, awkward, crammed with gratuitous sex scenes for the *soul* purpose of getting a childish book into the adult’s section at a library, and so forth. Any suggestions? Oh, and please do not recommend books like The Lord of the Rings, or the C.S. Lewis books. I have already read them. ;)
