Does anyone know a good web site on drawing smoke or know any good tips on drawing it.

Smoke is translucent, so you'll be able to see through it to a degree. If painting it on a dark background, use a dry brush with gray/white paint and paint wispy lines very lightly - paint a few light layers til you get the right effect.

If using pencil, remember the smoke is generally lighter than the background, so you could try pencilling in the background then use an eraser to remove the graphite and "draw" the smoke with the eraser.

Do a Yahoo or Google "Image" search for smoke and get some ideas from there. Good luck!

well, if it's cigarette smoke you draw it kind of like a ribbon, but with the two lines a little off-kilter. I've never tried to draw smoke from a fire, but I would play around with charcoal at first beacuse it's so easy to manipulate and find something that will work.
