The simple answer is falsetto, in which the vocal chords are tightened sufficiently to enable a higher frequency of vibration; rather like tightening a violin-string.
It is a technique which has to be specially developed, and with practise, the voice strenghtens. Interestingly, the same technique also produces a voice with a richer natural range.
However, there are other "techniques" such as surgical castration at pre-puberty; now of course illegal, but once very popular where a boy had a fine singing voice, and there was the possibility of a good career as a soloist. The most famous of the "castrati" singers was Farinelli, who lived in the 18th century, and sang before many royal personages.
Look up Farinelli on Wikipedia, then tell your friends:-
"On the basis that the most famous soprano of all time was a man; things are not always what they appear." :)
To add a little icing to the singing cake, you might also check out "throat singing" as practised especially by the people of Tuva; a region of Mongolia, between Russia and China.
Their technique is astonishing, because the vocal-chords produce a buzz (which is all that vocal chords do), and then they shape their mouths in such a way that they can sing two notes at the same time. One is a bass "drone" at normal low pitch, and the other is a flute-like tone which amplifies the higher musical harmonics of the vocal-chords and sends them down the nostrils at high-pitch.
It is nothing short of an amazing technique and an amazing sound, entirely generated by the vocal chords, and entirely natural.
If you want to hear it, go to the BBC radio web-site, check out the archives, and search for "Tuvan throat singing."
You will be absolutely mesemerised by it.

the male voice has a built-in second track, called falsetto. think back to when you were 5 years old, and could wail with the best of them: that pure, high, slender, child-like sound. For an adult male, that's falsetto. It's fairly easy to tap into, if you just remember to take things light and easy.
Most pop singers who use falsetto nowadays are rather heavily miked, however, so don't expect a big sound to come out. If you want an example of a "beefed-up" falsetto sound, try listening to some Barouque operas where there is a counter tenor singing. This is a sound quality that takes years to get that strong. In times past, when such music was first written, men had been castrated before they came into their puberty, thus maintaining a child-like purity of sound in a grown-up male body ( except for those important missing bits, that is.) It was not a sure-fire method at all, and most of the poor boys died in the attempt ( no anesthetics, no antibiotics, and the vet usually did it). some who did survive went crazy and committed suicide. ( Oh well, so do some pop singers, so that doesn't tell us much) Some never achieved the success that was promised them, and some lost their voices altogether. Sing hey for falsetto where no one is hurt.
If you want to take your full, or modal, voice higher, you need to take lessons from a qualified teacher.
Take time to investigate, you have only one voice, no interchangeable parts, so don't wind up with someone who can't or won't take the time to train you and your voice on an individual level.
Best wishes and keep on singing

Male voices have a higher register called falsetto, otherwise known as a head voice, meaning that one knowlonger sings 'from the chest'. Falsetto will sound thinner, lighter, and significantly softer for most people, but it is the key to singing high. To access your falsetto, think micky mouse, a small focused sound. Raise your soft palet, the squishy part of the roof of your mouth (petend someone scared you and lightly gasp, remain aware of what your palet does. Feel how lifted it is? That is what is should feel like when you sing). Like with all singing, support your sound. Supporting your sound means to use the diaphragm, the muscle located in between your belly buttom and ribs. Take deep breaths that fill and move your belly, and not your torso. And remember, your sound will be lighter and smaller, don't force it! Have fun with those high notes!

Well I believe that years ago the technique was to castrate pre-pubescent boys so the voice never broke and stayed at a child's pitch well into adulthood. Of course you could do this voluntarily but there is a medical technique now that tightens your vocal cords and elongates them so as to highten your voice, the downside is that there is no telling how your voice can be effected. It night go up an octave or just barely - that's the risk you run I guess.

Singing is something that everybody can learn and improve. Of course, some are more naturally skilled than others, but even a poor voice can be overcome by dedication, practice, and more practice. Even if you're content to sing in the shower, there are some things you can do to improve your voice. This is probably the best online course to improve your singing skills https://tr.im/0bdt8
Your golden voice will be ringing out in no time!

If you want to know a very good vocal coach try to visit https://tr.im/5VVED an online vocal coaching tutorial. Everything, ranging from breathing fundamentals, vocalizing exercises, techniques on singing high and low notes, how to not go off-key/out of tune/off-sync, musicianship and music theory, proper diction and articulation, and a lot more are covered, all in our native language. It can be quite technical in nature, but it really helps since it covers the musical aspect of singing deeply and not just concentrates on how to impress people with your vocal range, riffs and runs and other cliches that do not necessarily make one a complete vocalist.

Do you mean for extending his range?
Teaching voice is an art ... and it is not really for a site like this, because it involves so many different factors .... so I'll demur.
