My husband never knew his father. When his mother found out she was pregnant, she up and left. About 3 or 4 years ago, my husband and his stepfather were having a discussion, and my husband was told that his biological father used to write him letters. But, his mother threw them all away. Now that we're starting to look for him, she won't give us a lot of information.

Where would be the best place to start? I've been on some genealogy boards posting questions but, to no avail. If anyone could help with anything, it would be great.

This is the only information that was given to us by his mother:

Francisco Javier Jimenez
Born in August of 1963, 1964 or 1965
He lived in the Fontana-Montclair area in the early 80s.
Worked at a furniture store at the time.
Originally from Mexico.
Married to a woman named Antonia, she had a son named Javier in 1984, the same name and year my husband was born. They're very close in age.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

We all talk about our body or our brain, that we have them. But we never say I am body or brain. If we would do that, we would be just a computer, not able to be conscious about ourselves. Why do still so many people believe that they do not exist beyond "their" body, but think that they will disappear when their body or brain dies? This is for me not logical, as even materialists say they "have" a body. So who is the "I" which "has" body and brain. The "I" just uses the body.
I would be interested what your thoughts are. Thank you.

I need a poem that uses symbols like a poem that talks about an american flag and an eagle to represent America or something like that.

I love to write. I write many poems and have tried to write stories. I have two that are half written. My problem is when i read them back to myself they sound like a 10 yr old has written them, their might be the odd paragraph that i like but it sounds so jeuvenile. Also i fear im becoming a slave to adjectives in effort to make my story interesting. How can i change how I write?

I'm a freshman in high school but my reading level was college-level last time I was assessed (8th grade), and I'm looking for book recommendations. Our assignment in English is to chose a book independently and complete a project on it. Since I'm in honors, the book needs to be somewhat advanced (if not college level, college-bound level).

I'm looking for something that not only has a compelling, brilliant plot (with twists, if possible), but deeply crafted characters and beautiful, lyrical prose. I want something that isn't dry and distant, but is still deep.

Genre doesn't matter, so long as the above is present. :)

No chick-lit, though. Please. No crime/action/war novels either. Anything else goes. Thank you. I would prefer YOUR recommendations rather than a link to a website.

What’s the difference ‘tween us and them?
Where exists the difference hem?
Are we defined, you and me?
Or are we just one harmony?
Can you see both bush and bird?
In deafness neither can be heard
Is there both a light and dark?
They both help to seek the mark
When does river turn to sea?
Where does thigh turn into knee?
Why can’t we not be apart?
Like a pair of coupled larks?
Does there exist another place?
Apart from deadly outer space
Will we someday travel there?
Exist forever in it’s glare?
Surely it could not be so
Surely it would be so low
But in my heart I still have faith
I still belive in your grace
Even if you may doubt me
And may not want to be with me
Though life is young, and life is shallow
I still waste it in your shadow
Waiting for just one small glimpse
Of your face or just a hint
That you might turn and see me also
That you might see me as I follow
And this is how I wait for you,
I hold my breath, my face turns blue
But still you do not..

I live in the Austin area and I know that I need a portfolio with like some 8x10's and Rembrandt's, but I don't know much other than that. I've got a couple of pictures already but I'm unsure of where to send them too. Preferably in town.

What is the best book you have ever read? And what book would you recommend for somebody who doesn't have much free time (like one you can just dip in and out of)?

During the winter, I took a tumbling class for ages 6 thru 12, and learned how to do a cartwheel and to fall into a backbend. It was pretty embarassing to be the oldest person there by like three years. Anyways, I didn't take that class again for the wintes session, because I am already taking four dance classes, and it was just too much. I kinda taught myself to do a handstand and then fall foward on my butt. I can't seem to fall into a bridge. Also, how can I teach myself to do a back walkover? I figured out how to lift one of my legs up without falling over. LOL. Okay, well, thanks.

What symbols can be used to portray the following qualities in a person, assuming that these qualities are based on how another person who doesn't know them well perceives them?

unassuming, friendly, sheltered, un-trendy, formal way of speaking, warm, unassertive, book-smart, street-slow, smart humor, easily amused, sensitive, ungroomed, disconnected, innocent.

How can one represent these qualities (a bulk of them) in one or two symbols? I need ideas to begin brainstorming. Thanks.
