Does anyone know how to put a VHS video film onto Youtube?

i think the only way to do it is to copy it into a cd, then copy it onto you comp. and then upload it you tube.

It is quite easy to get video from a VHS tape onto your computer but you do need the appropriate hardware and software to do this.
The easiest way to transfer your video from VHS to a digital format would be to connect a standard DV camcorder to your VCR. The DV camcorder typically comes with RCA cables and will connect directly to your VCR. Once connected to the VCR set your camcorder to the appropriate settings (every camcorder is different and you will have to check with the manual) and press play on the VCR, at the same moment press record on the DV camcorder.
So once you have your video recorded to the DV tape you will then need to import that video onto your computer. For this you will need to have a IEEE firewire cable connection on your computer, a firewire cable, as well as a video editing software. If you have windows XP you have a basic video capture and video editing software preinstalled on your system called Windows Movie maker. If you are using mac you have I-movie.
Once you have connected your camcorder to your computer you will open your video editing software and capture your video. Go to the help menu in whatever your video editing software you are using to learn how to capture, it is usually just as easy as pressing the capture button, granted you have set the camera to the approrpiate capture settings.
So once you have recorded your video to your computer then you can save your video to whatever video format you prefer. In this case you want to upload to youtube so you will need to save the video in a fairly compressed format. Typically with most of your entry level software there will be an option called save-to-internet. So once you have saved your video then you go to youtube, and you upload your video.
