It just seems a shame that economics, greed, and politics undermine universal human goodwill. While we pride ourselves in being the most intelligent creatures on this planet, looking at the world in its current state, it seems that we are only intelligent enough to destroy our environment while we constantly squabble to acquire our dwindling natural resources as opposed to applying our intellect to solving the problems of the world. After all, isn't that what a truly intelligent species would do?

I've read many of the founding fathers including George Washington had an affection for Thomas Paine. He seems to have alot to do with some of the way this country was laid out. Many of the founding fathers got their ideas from him.

I guess my question is why did they look up to him so much, and how much influence did he have on the beginning of our country.

I read he even got to name the country.

As I thought of this I thought of the Spanish American war at the turn on the last century ( about 1 month long in 1898 , US took control on Spanish Islands [except Cuba] in the Caribbean & Philippines)

How does the current situation in Iraq compare or does it?

Are there other instances that I should look into that compare to the current situatuon?

Aside from the anti-war politica protest of Vietnam war how does it compare to the current war / occupation of Iraq?

Again are there other instances that I am not thinking of that are very similar to the current situation of the U.S.A. in Iraq?

Do really dramatic eyes or good hands and well it all still looks REALLY amature!

The thing is I don't watch anime (i hate the shows and they're on too late, anyway) and I'm self- taught. I used to have a friend who helped me with it but she moved and now I'm all alone.

Another problem I have is making the men I draw a little feminine...

Could ANY of you help me at all? Mabye a link to a step-by-step drawing process?

All I here about is digital this and digital that. Aren't there any artists and craftsmen left? Tell me that true photography has not gone the way of the dinosaurs! I even use archaic methods, like cyanotypes for instance. Or Polaroid transfers. You know; stuff with film, a darkroom, time and patience, art and vision. I can use Photoshop well enough, but I think we are losing a valuable art form. Where are all of you????

What foods did the Western Hemisphere ("New World") and the Eastern Hemisphere ("Old World") have in common? Or were all of today's cuisines a result of the blending of the two?

For example: if there were 10 million Jewish persons inhabiting Germany and Nazi occupied lands shortly before occupation, and only 2 million survive in these lands to right before the end of the war (6 million killed, two million displaced outside Nazi controlled territory), than 80% would be the number I am looking for.

I understand that many Jews left Europe and North Africa after the war ended, but I am not asking for post-war displacement numbers.

Please include your sources.

I've seen the movie made of his life and I have read his bios before. He seemed fascinating and complex, plagued with a lot of demons. I really want to learn more about his work, but quite honestly, I find his work too dismal and chaotic to even comprehend.

Does anyone understand where Basquiat was going with his work? What messages (if any) was he trying to convey?

"Poetry has been regarded as something central to each man's existence, something having unique value to the fully realized life, something that he is better off for having and spiritually impoverished without" What "fully realized life" is supposed to mean here. Thanks a lot
