I'm not talking about unnoticeable swallows. When I'm singing, sometimes my throat would suddenly be unmoveable, and then I would swallow. It really disturbs my singing. This always happens when I have a lot of saliva in my mouth. Problem is, how can I *not* have saliva? And just to satisfy your curiousity, singing does not remind me of food... ^_^ I've always thought something was wrong with my throat or salivary glands... Can someone help?

I have an art teacher who is rubbish at his job. The head has had many complaints about him and his teaching. He only helps the people he likes and he grades your work without even looking at it. There was obviously something that happened because today he was asking everyone if they were OK and if they needed help. However, when I asked him if my fish was good (which I thought was OK, but not that brill and could have had some improvement) he looked at it really funny and then said that he loved it and it was really good. I do not think that he was telling the truth - What should I do?

I am so nervous. I am trying out for C.O.D.A. (all region honor band) on oboe tomorrow. I made 1st chair last year but I am still freaking out. There are 14 9th grade oboes trying out and 4 spots. I'm scared I'm not going to make it. Any advice on how to not be nervous?

I was twelve when I realized my mother really wasn’t right about some things. I had ridden my mountain bike to the Wentworth Dam and sat at the edge of one of its concrete tiers watching the cliff swallows.

I watched them twirl and spin in the air above the roaring water and then plunge into the broad face of the sand stone cliff at the other side of the dam. There homes were burrowed into the sandstone with an opening about the size of a twelve-year-old’s hand. They would swoop down in a large arc, full speed, and the fold the wings in at the last minute as the popped into their doorways

My mother had said animals we not intelligent and had no soul. I suspected on that summer morning she was wrong about some animals and hence – what else was she wrong about?

I couldn’t tell if my father wasn’t right about some thing because my father never spoke to me except to tell me to do my chores or ride on the correct side of the street. Oh – he had also once taught me how to repair...

so i have big dreams of becoming a famous ,inspiring ,award winning recording artist and dancer. it truely is my GREATEST passion. but of all the obsticales that lay ahead of me the biggest on is shyness. and when i get shy,..i get nervous. and the rest just goes down hill from there. i've never sung in front of anyone besides my sister and best friend. they insist that i sing beautifully and that i really need to sing in front of a bigger crowd besides just two pictures. i really do need some wise advice on how to completely VANISH that characteristic of mine. i'm only shy when i'm getting ready to get in front of a large auidence. i need some advice. some reeeeealy good advice. and i'll be thinking of those wise words whenever i'm getting ready to perform in front of people.
thank you soooooooooo very much!

I have a friend that is unsure as to how to go about marketing her material... she has a website set up (www.ciaracusseaux.com) with some of her pieces visible.. can anyone offer any suggestions, ESPECIALLY if you're involved in the industry?

NOTE: These are artistic pieces, not journalistic.

THANKYOU! :D

Is the relevance of hypocrisy exaggerated? While it is important in some cases, notably when propriety is an unavoidable issue, I do believe that people often exaggerate the relevance of hypocrisy, as a way of distracting from an issue. If the so called hypocrite has a sound premise and factual information, what does it matter if his character is suspect? Would you turn down assistance from anyone that didn't live a non contradictory life? I think it's self defeating stubbornity to ignore a hypocrite because you assume his faulty character makes what he says probable lies.

What are your thoughts on hypocrisy?

than just the usual ineffective intellectual understanding.
all jokes are a sort of mini realisation/enlightenment, and i just thought that couching a philoshic idea as a joke [ that is joyfully unravelled] would be more likely to induce instantaneous realization in a reader.
i know the east have their zen koans which may lead to joyful laughing realisations but i am thinking of western/modern examples of this.
