Not really because at the time the sea route had not been discovered and the expansion of the Ottoman empire limited travel between the two places due to the wars with the Muslims and the control of most of Asia by the Mongols. There is a great website called Anicient Dynasties that talks about China and other Asian countries.

They modeled sometimes, Michelangelo didn't even use female models, just men who he painted breasts on. Women didn't really contribute to the artistic world because the world believed they couldn't. The are numerous instances of Female rulers who ruled well and justly, until they got a husband and lost their titles. They were also patrons but weren't as prolific.
