This is not a question about who wrote the plays and sonnets of Shakespeare. It is rather a question of psychology relating to us living in the 20th and 21st centuries and our strange bias and elitism with regard to this matter. Why do we find it so difficult to believe that someone who had been neither to Oxford nor to Cambridge and was a "a brash actor/producer" could have written these works? Isn't it true that in Europe both before and during the Renaissance there were many who were self-taught or taught through apprenticeship rather than formal university schooling? What about Dante, Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo to name but a few? Since when is the university the best place to learn about human nature, the vicissitudes of the human condition and the foibles of men and women in positions both high and low?

I need book reccommendations ASAP.?

For my freshman English class, we must read a book of our choice and complete a project relating to it. The only requirements are that we musn't have had read the book before AND it must be at our level.

The project is due on Wed. the 8th. I haven't chosen a book yet, primarily because I've been ill with a horrid cold. Because of this, I only have a few days to read the book and finish the project. I'm normally an avid reader but haven't read much lately so I need help choosing a book.

1. I read at college level, so it should be an advanced book (at that level)
2. It should be relatively short (150-250 pages?), because I don't have a lot of time
3. Obviously, it should be a worthwhile read which stays with you beyond the school aspect.
4. It would be nice if it was a renowned book, such as a classic, but it doesn't have to me. If there are any hidden gems I would love to know about them.

Thanks! =)

My friend is a dancer and considers it a sport. I do cross country, and don't believe dance is a sport. Every other sport has a common ground where you are doing the exact same thing with skill. It's easy to judge who wins a game in all sports. But in dance there are different routines, therefore you cannot exactly judge equally because you are not seeing all teams try to perform the same routine. I consider it more of an art/entertainment. Is it actually considered a sport officially? Does anyone agree with me?

Old books , well not really old. Written in the eighties to nineties I think. They are about the earth being separated into five different elements. World of trees, world of air. I cant remember all the details but these books were borrowed from a library in Jamaica and I had to return them, but there was one with a dragon and a really hilarious old wizard. These books got my little brother interested in reading. He loves books now and they were really good if anyone knows what I'm talking about, tell me where I can find them. Website, bookstore, any where. I know theres not only one copy of them.

I have seen the 4 movies, but have not read any of the books. What are some of the things you liked in the books that did not appear in the movie?

Am I missing any major plot points or just character development?
