What a challenging assignment. It is something that I've always wondered about since Professor Higgins certainly isn't an easy-going guy to live with. It's hard to imagine them living a happily ever after life. It would have to involve a lot of give and take. Arguments. Neither side really wanting to give up control. I guess you would have to determine if Eliza returning in the end meant she was giving up control, giving up her independence and fight, and submitting. OR if you think she would be just as stubborn and as spirited and feisty as before. Which when you think of it...it's those qualities that made him like her to begin with. He doesn't really want a docile dependent, weepy woman clinging to him. And you'll have to make the decision as to if they're in love and stay in love OR if it's just a matter of familiarity. She wants to stay safe and protected. And he likes having her around...but there's nothing more to the story. The ending is ambiguous like that.

In the movie she ended up making up with her mentor and catering to him, he seemed to have the upper hand but she also was very close to his mother. I think his mother would eventually have had influence over her son and made her marry Eliza. The women in those days knew how to manipulate men real well. He would have struggled for power at first but in the end would have given in to Eliza because as he said "he had become accustomed to her face" and every other part of her too.

If you watched the movie what is your problem? Get writing. We are NOT going to do YOUR homework for you, kid. Better get moving if you are that desperate. Chuckle.
