I read it when I was a kid. It's about a family who win lotto and then the boy is kidnapped and taken into the bush. But he gets away and is hiding out in an abandoned house and there are feral cats everywhere. When one of the kidnappers kills a kitten, all the ferals attack the kidnappers... It's set in Australia, but I have no idea of what it was called.

Explain this statement: Nietzsche critiques the Enlightenment ideal of progress through a critique of the "transcendental pretense" and its understanding of self and subjectivity.

Many people die suddenly and without warning or preparation. If you were driving along the highway and taken out suddenly by a big rig how would you answer the following questions?

- What song would you hope was playing on your radio or CD player?

- Whose picture would you have or want to have in your purse or wallet?

- What long lost friend do you wish you reconnected with?

- What one item will they find in your house or car that you might be embarassed about (that is if dead people could get embarassed)?

- What one question do you wish you had asked and to whom?

- What TV show are you going to miss the most?

- As your lying on the ground and they are trying to resusitate you what stupid thought will you be thinking?

- What project are you glad you left unfinished?

- Whose the person you most want to say goodbye to?

- Whose the person you most want to say hi to on the other side?

- What special request do you wish you could make for your funeral?

If the playing field was truly level, and fairness was a realized ideal of society, how would this effect humanity, positively or negatively?

I read a book as a child, and loved it, but cannot remember its title. Can anyone recognise it from these patchy memories? This was probably 25 or so years ago.

It was basically a science fiction novel for (I reckon) a 10 year old, about a boy who flies around a number of planets in his own small spaceship. On one of the planets, he is surrounded by stone like objects that move very slowly, and I think he gets surrounded by them after falling asleep in them. I seem to recall another scene where he lands his spaceship on his school playing field and burns it with the engines. I think they also played a game a bit like polo in spaceships.

Granted, it doesn't sound too inspiring, but I can remember a real magical sense to it, and I've been trying to remember it so I can read it to my son.

Today it seems to me that children have many rights and are viewed as human beings that need to be treated with respect and dignity. How were children viewed in the past? Property? Slaves?

I really did like the book up until I hit the very confusing ending. Though I hate to do it, I looked it up on the booknotes pages, but still don't understand which site is right. Where is Holden and did he write a book for everyone to read or what? If anyone out there can clear up the ending for me, I would really appreciate it. Thanks for the help!

Would it be more divine to kill Hitler or to forgive him?

remember :

If you dont kill him, he wont stop killing, and the only way to stop him from killing the weak and the innocent is by killing him! the man has no heart and no emotions, thousands of children wrote him letters of love, that didnt stop him!

and If you dont forgive him , you are undermining the virtue of love and forgiveness! If you kill him, you are commiting the same crime that you are punishing him for!

so...Would it be more divine to kill Hitler or to forgive him?

please think on this question and then answer.

your time and answers are well appreciated! thank you.
