Around 6 million Jews were murdered by Hitler and his Nazi regime.

Others killed by the Nazie regime were killed. It is estimate that as many as one-half million Gypsies, at least 250,000 mentally or physically disabled persons, and more than three million Soviet prisoners-of-war also fell victim to Nazi genocide. Jehovah’s Witnesses, homosexuals, Social Democrats, Communists, partisans, trade unionists, Polish intelligentsia and other undesirables were also victims of the hate and aggression carried out by the Nazis.

Holocaust happened because Hitler and the Nazis were racist. They believed the German people were a 'master race', who were superior to others. They even created a league table of 'races' with the Aryans at the top and with Jews, Gypsies and black people at the bottom. These 'inferior' people were seen as a threat to the purity and strength of the German nation. When the Nazis came to power they persecuted these people, took away their human rights and eventually decided that they should be exterminated.

The Holocaust refers to the systematic extermination of most of Europe's Jewish population between 1938 and 1945. The program was developed as the "Final Solution" at a conference in Wansee (a suburb of Berlin) in early 1941.
Millions of Jews, primarily from Germany and Poland (but from every European country occupied by the Nazis) were sent to both forced labor camps and death camps. Those that were not killed immediately were worked to death.

The best source for information is the Holocaust Museum in Washington DC.

...uh its not a philosophy. the holocaust is a serious thing ok? during WWII. hitler took over germany and with his secret police he manipulated ppl and became a dictator. he got jews, gypsies, and homosexuals on cattle cars and sent them to concentration camps or work camps. he committed mass murders by gassing them, burning them, shooting them, disease or just letting them die of starvation. he pretty much killed 6 million ppl. yea. so its a serious thing. and the only reason he killed them is cuz they were jewish.
