I'm 40 this year. I'm not exactly terrified at the prospect but I am dreading it! People say ohhh life begins at 40. Can anyone convince me this is true?

When browsing page after page here at yahoo answers, you feel like you become this very smart person who has answers to almost everything! But then some question comes up and you like ah I know, and you start typing and then stuff gets soggy cause you think through your answer and kind of smack down to earth realise what a stupid answer it really is!?

Achilles the Greek hero was asked this. Would you
rather live a long life and know that you lost battles.
Or die very soon knowing that you were a hero
world famous for conquering the enemies of Athens?

tend to do the least?

Why is it that when the subject of a social issue is brought up in a group ,such as homelessness, there is usually someone who blindly says that we should stop talking about it and start doing something about it? Why do I always feel they're just saying that to relieve their conscious?? Or in a vain effort to portray themselves as more empathetic?

Yeah, I'm interested in attending St. John's College, but everyone that attends receives a Master in Liberal Arts because everyone undergoes the same type of curriculm. I like the atmosphere of the school don't get me wrong, but what type of occupations are available after graduation? A Masters in Liberal Arts isn't really seen as a study for any single type of profession is it? Please help, Thanks!

DON'T make any assumptions as I am NOT giving my opinion.

In many states, until recently, it was considered a misdemeanor. There were laws against vagrancy which many homeless 'tend' to do..I believe some states still have them.. or something similar.

Do homeless bring property value down? How would a home owner feel about that?

Do they affect the image of the cities they 'live' in? Would it deter people from visiting that city and possibly spending money there?

A bug is a very small thing. Let's take for instance an ant if an ant were to look up at us we might appear as a mountain to him. If it were to rain a puddle might appear as a vast ocean. So my question We view our vast oceans and our mountains which are very large. But is there something bigger looking at us saying what I am saying about bugs? Catch my drift?

So in god's example we are suppost to keep the Sabbath day holy and rest on the seventh day. My question is if this were as important as it states why wouldn't god put more emphasis on it for example. Last Sunday I was watching a honeybee pollinating flowers and I thought any other species other than humans don't take a day to rest. They work everyday. Just as hard as the last. So if resting on the seventh day were so important why wouldn't god give us subtle reminders like no honeybees pollinating. Etc.

I love books and I've read many of the classics, some heavy literature, a lot of best sellers, or even the fun chicklites. But lately I can not get into any book. I can't seem to be able to get into anything that's too slow-paced or too heavy, yet anything I pick up that's supposed to be a "light" read, reveals to be a pointless waste of time. Have you read a book you got hooked on lately??

I've been reading romance novels since I was 10 years old. Started out with typical Harlequin dime novels and worked my way up to Nora Roberts and Kinley McGregor. I enjoy other genres but I always seem to go back to romance. I have a bad day and I get out my stack of Silhouette and/or Harlequin novels. I feel almost dependant on romance novels.

How can I stop my dependance on these books? Is there a support group?
