I've been reading romance novels since I was 10 years old. Started out with typical Harlequin dime novels and worked my way up to Nora Roberts and Kinley McGregor. I enjoy other genres but I always seem to go back to romance. I have a bad day and I get out my stack of Silhouette and/or Harlequin novels. I feel almost dependant on romance novels.

How can I stop my dependance on these books? Is there a support group?

I think it's possible to get addicted - and it's common. I don't think it's a problem, unless you find yourself expecting real life to be like a romance novel. I had to stop reading romance novels because the amount of time I spent drooling over hot shirtless guys was beginning to interfere with my real life. lol.

Nah, there is nothng wrong. You shouldn't be looking for a support group either. Everyone that loves to read has some addiction to a least one genre. and i must admit romance novels are very nice. However, i am addicted to the Mystery suspense type novels. I LOVE those types of novels. I specially love Christopher Pike books. They are amazing. Your addiction is ok. And the thing is your dependance isn't even real, you just think it is because you are addicted to the romance in the novels. So yea, you'll be ok.
HAVE A NICE DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :}

It's not insane to be that way. You're just more interested in that kind of stories... Now, if you feel dependent and you think that reading romance novels is affecting you, maybe it will help to eventually switch to something else. At first look for books that contain romance, but also action (for example...just choose another genre) and then soem other book that contains more and more of that other genre, and soon you won't be seeing yourself looking for only romance novels.

Romance novels are great... I liked them too

Oh my goodness yes! I'm addicted to both mysteries and fantasy/sci-fi.

There are MUCH worse things to be addicted to. Enjoy!
