Almost all wars are fought over political, geographic, economic and social power. Religion is often just a subterfuge.

Look beyond the cross, crescent moon/star and star of David and you find fertile land, oil, jobs, diamonds, a link to the sea, etc.

Most all of them.
Especially in past wars before the onset of the United States.
(Even within the beginnings of the US....the "Civilized Christian" people of Europe against the "Unbelieving Barbarian Hordes of the American Natives)
Everything has religious significance.....your god is not real, therefore you have no rights.
The "Divine Rights" of the great thrones of Europe and Asia, meaning Ruling by Divine Right of God...which ever god it was.
The constant wars between the European powers of Spain, France, and England are all traced back to the fight between Catholics and Protestants.
Even the wars of the Far East had religious significance.
The war between the "white" nations...and the "dark" Near East nations......even go back as far to the Greek's war against the "Turks".
Your religion was what defined you.
Therefore making religion a large part of it.
Even the most significant part of WWII brought in the religious aspect with attempted extermination of the Jews.
More people have gone to war and have died by the Name of God than anything in this world.

At the beginning, there was no war due to religious differences, except the Judaic leaders who were using religion to get the support of their people.
Since the imposition of the Judaic religions, all the wars are presented as "holy" wars!
Among the largest known: The Crusades, the seizure of America, most European wars, conflicts of Israel with Arabs, etc.

One, and only one. The First Crusade (and there may be an argument that it was for control of trade routes to the east). There is a geopolitical or economic explanation for every other war. Religion is a convenient way of getting the troops excited enough to kill their fellow man.

There are three reasons that all wars, battles, etc can be linked to in one fashion or another and they are...
1) Religion
2) Greed (money, land, etc)
3) Revenge
Now that you have the facts, how many wars? EVERY one!

Many. Many. The Crusades. Thirty-Years War. Northern Ireland/England. Palestine/Israel. Israel/Egypt. Israel/Jordan. Iran/Iraq. "War on Terror" Current Iraq Civil War.

At every point in recorded history, at some place on this planet, someone is invading someone else because they don't adhere to the same religious values. Too tragic.

None. At least not the kind of religion we see in the USA. Religion in other countries and in other ages are based on political power.
