I earned a Ph.D. in a so-called "soft science". Outside of a college/university environment, I think addressing me as "professor" is as unnecessary as a civilian addressing a military person by their armed forced title. I wouldn't mind being addressed as "Dr.", but I prefer to be called by my first name, or "Mrs." or "Ms.". I think "Professor" is appropriate if I'm your college teacher. My mother is having a cow over this. I don't get it. I just prefer to reserve the title "Dr." for physicians. Am I the only one who feels this way?

I was at work today and backed out of my parking space. I put it in drive and tried to drive forward when one of my rear tires locked up. I drove it around until I got to the nearest parking spot and parked it. When I was driving, it made a horrible squeaking the noise the whole way around. I live in the midwest and we just got about 8 inches of snow. I was wondering if it is possible that the cold made my brakes lock up or freeze up? What should I look at in order to correct this problem. The car is a '92 Dodge Dynasty. Thank you in advance.

Summary: observational data do not support the greenhouse models of "global warming" as something caused by humans burning fossil fuels. Rather, the data strongly suggest these models are useless.

It is much more likely that the current experience of climate change is caused by subtle variations in solar magnetic fields which impact cloud formation and thus the amount of heat the Earth gains from the sun.

Can you say that the US Senate was right to refuse the Kyoto treaty? And that President Bush is right to refuse to negotiate rigid standards for something that doesn't need doing? [or worse -- would simply made us all poorer while accomplishing nothing?]

Let's hear a round of applause for America -- where [this time] the politicians refused to be stampeded into ill-conceived legislation. 8-)

My pomeranian was born on December 19th, 2006 and I got him when he was about 7 weeks old. I had him for about 4 months and then I took on a large project at work which required lots of travel. I loved this dog soooooo much I considered getting a new job so that I could have more time to dedicate to him. When I came home from work, I was all his and I took him everywhere w/ me (accept work of course).
The person who does my nails just got married and purchased a huge house with a large back yard and was looking for a puppy. I thought it would be a much better fit for him because she owned her own business and whould have more time to dedicate to him.
Anyway, long story short, I recently got a new job that requires absolutely no travel and out of no where my nail tech tells me she needs to get rid of the dog! I OF COURSE want him back! He's turning 1 years old on December 19 and Im so afraid that he might not remember me since he's no longer a baby and its been 8 mths. Any thoughts?

I read in a recent Popular Science magazine that you can unseal an envelope in the freezer, but I don't recall how long it would take for it to pop back open. Anyone know the time it would take?
