I was at work today and backed out of my parking space. I put it in drive and tried to drive forward when one of my rear tires locked up. I drove it around until I got to the nearest parking spot and parked it. When I was driving, it made a horrible squeaking the noise the whole way around. I live in the midwest and we just got about 8 inches of snow. I was wondering if it is possible that the cold made my brakes lock up or freeze up? What should I look at in order to correct this problem. The car is a '92 Dodge Dynasty. Thank you in advance.

i think it is indeed frozen ... do you have a garage? Perhaps you can leave it warm for a while or even leave it running for about an hour ... then engage and disengage the e-brake a few times to loosen the brake cable.

it doesn't sound like a wheel bearing b/c it happened all of a sudden, not greater and greater.

It's the squeal tabs on the pads or a build up of brake dust. You may need new brakes. Mopst places offer a free inspection. Take it in a have it looked at.

Bad wheel bearing. If it was making a horrible squeaking sound this is not the breaks dragging it is either a frozen or a bad bearing.
