My parents told me about Mr. Common Sense early in my life and told me I would do well to call on him when making decisions. It seems he was always around in my early years but less and less as time passed by. Today I read his obituary. Please join me in a moment of silence in remembrance, for Common Sense had served us all so well for so many generations.

Obituary

Mr. Common Sense

Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend, Common Sense, who has been with us for many years. No one knows for sure how old he was since his birth records were long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape. He will be remembered as having cultivated such valuable lessons as knowing when to come in out of the rain, why the early bird gets the worm, life isn't always fair, and maybe it was my fault.

Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies (don't spend more than you earn) and reliable parenting strategies (adults, not children are in charge).

His health began to deteriorate rapidly when well intentioned but overbearing regulations were set in place. ! Reports of a six-year-old boy charged with sexual harassment for kissing a classmate; teens suspended from school for using mouthwash after lunch; and a teacher fired for reprimanding an unruly student, only worsened his condition.

Common Sense lost ground when parents attacked teachers for doing the job they themselves failed to do in disciplining their unruly children. It declined even further when schools were required to get parental consent to administer Aspirin, sun lotion or a sticky plaster to a student, but could not inform the parents when a student became pregnant and wanted to have an abortion.

Common Sense lost the will to live as the Ten Commandments became contraband; churches became businesses; and criminals received better treatment than their victims. Common Sense took a beating when you couldn't defend yourself from a burglar in your own home and the burglar can sue you for assault.

Common Sense finally gave up the will to live, after a woman failed to realize that a steaming cup of coffee was hot. She spilled a little in her lap, and was promptly awarded a huge settlement.

Common Sense was preceded in death by his parents, Truth and Trust; his wife, Discretion; his daughter, Responsibility; and his son, Reason. He is survived by three stepbrothers; I Know my Rights, Someone Else is to Blame, and I'm a Victim.

Not many attended his funeral because so few realized he was gone. If you still remember him, pass this on. If not, join the majority and do nothing.

I cook fish often, but it seems that catfish is a more difficult fish than others to develop a predictable taste with (mainly grilled). Sometimes it has a great taste, then other times, there is a very harsh "fishy" flavor that overwhelms the spices and seasonings. I've heard of soaking the fish in hot sauce, but I don't know the specifics of how to do that. Any help is appreciated.

While I was waiting to fall asleep a few nights ago, I got to thinking about why people get pets. The next day I formalized it after writing in my Livejournal, and came up with four reasons:
1. Actually petting them, such as most cats (not hairless ones), some dogs, hamsters, mice, chinchillas, etc
2. Playing with them, such as dogs, cats, and ferrets
3. Admiring their beauty, such as with fish, birds, and some especially beautiful cats and dogs
4. Because they're rare, like buying hairless cats, rare breeds of dogs, spiders, and other unusual pets

However, turtles don't seem to fit in with any of those. You can't pet them, can't play with them, they're common and cheap, and pretty ugly. By my four reasons, it would seem no one would ever buy a turtle. But people do, and I'm not quite sure why.

So, why would anyone buy a turtle?
(also, in the same line, turtle owners out there, what posessed you to buy your turtle?)

A question was asked on here about 10 minutes ago, where a girl asked if AIDS was a behavioral disease. Unfortunately, many uninformed people said it was not, as some people get it from blood transfusions, infected spouses and parent, etc.

Well, just to set the record straight, every person in America who has gotten AIDS NOT from sex or drugs accounts for only 2% of AIDS cases! 2%!!

http://www.cdc.gov/hiv/topics/surveillance/basic.htm#exposure

That's almost as silly as people saying abortions are not done for convenience, when only 7% of abortions are done for any other reason.

I am sure that 2% of the men under Hitler's regime were good people. Does that mean all Nazi's were good people?

Can someone explain this to me? What date did we decide that 2% of a population adequately represents the whole?

And can SOMEONE tell me why AIDS is not a behavioral disease? The numbers say otherwise!

And if you answer this one you better be sure you are able to fit in one of those categories! I exclamate my statement to emphasize my request!

Okay, here's the survey question of the day. I expect lots of stars and you-know-what's if YOU KNOW WHAT is good for you!!!! (More exclamations, now that you know what they are for)

Are you a male or a female? And why? Would you prefer to be an animal or a pound keeper? A chicken, or the butcher? A tomato or the tomatee?

for your signnificant other...only to have it turn out awful?

Last night, I was waiting for my man in the bed, wearing nothing but one of his ties, and when he came in, he scared me, and I fell off the bed, and on the way down, unplugged the Christmas lights I had worked an hour to hang in our room.

I have purchased items that I have purchased at a local grocery store and are just fine; the antiperspirant works, the cookies are good.

I have then purchased the exact same items at Wal-mart and they seem to be inferior i.e. the antiperspirant doesn't work and the cookies are either overcooked or undercooked.

It almost seems like the companies are giving inferior lots of products to Wal-Mart. Maybe that's how manufacturer's meet Wal-Mart's price demands?

I am curious as to whether or not you can get in legal trouble for breaking a terms of service agreement (or nondiscolusure agreement). I am mostly talking about the agreements you agree to when you sign up for beta tests or play online video games.

For instance, could somebody using hacks in CounterStrike or Everquest have anything happen to them other than getting their account suspended? I'm almost sure that nobody has ever been brought to court over such a case mainly because it isn't worth the time or effort - but is it possible?
