I went to the same school preschool-8th grade. i had a group of 10 friends. we were all really close in 7th and 8th grade and we all were like sisters. we were the "popular" people so to speak. when i was in 9th grade i transferred to a new school and moved to a new town. im now in 11th grade. i made one close friend really quickly. but she recently ditched me a few months ago for a new group and hangs out with this other girl now. this other girl who was my friend like tries to ditch me all the time. im not mean or anything i'm nice but am also quiet at times around people other than my friends. so now im so confused. i don't get why people don't wanna be friends with me..???im really nice and helpful to everyone...i still keep in touch with 1 girl from my old school. but still i've been at this school 2 years and right now i feel like i have no friends to hang out with because they both pretty much ditched me..now what? :(

They come down my street after school, and I have seen them steal out of a neighbours yard, break things in another, and have thrown snow balls at my window..... I yelled at them when they threw the snowballs, thinking they would be scared or something (cause these kids are all under 12, and the worst ones are a couple of little kids, probably 7 years old), but they thought it was even funnier, and the next day they came through and were laughing about kicking my door in...... I decided to call the principal of their school (cause I don't know who they are) This calmed them down for a couple weeks, but today they came down my street, and one of the 7 year olds picked up a snow ball and was going to throw it at my car (until I went out and asked him what he was going to do with it). I spoke to their principal again, she says she is going to talk to the kids again on Monday, and probably call their parents about it.....but I doubt that's going to do anything...

I'm wiccan and i'm a good person;Nothing i do hurts anyone because i live by the rede. Okay, so the bible says that witchcraft is wrong but it also says masterbation, eating red meat and homosexuality are wrong(the last one being prejudice at it's finest). Why is witchcraft held to be so much worse? Its not just with pagan religions either its with mostly anyone who dosen't worship jesus...i know because i was protestant for 15 freaking years and i began to realize who i really was and that each little part of the christian umbrella (catholic, protestant, lutheran, baptist etc.)feels that they are more worthy than even the other christian religions!
why is this?
I just want insight not a flood of pro-christian answers
your yelling at me won't make me anyless of who i am.
)O(
blessed be!

my neighbor's oldest son is a bully. He likes to manipulate the other children during playtime and even gets physical with the boys, including his own little brother. With the girls, he calls them names and makes them feel like trash. My daughter has complained about him on several occasions but tonight I had it. I went straight to him and told him "It needs to stop and it's going to stop NOW. You are a bully and if I hear or see you bullying ever again, I will tell your mother and you will be in big trouble. It has to stop NOW."

I felt good for confronting him right then and there in front of the other boys. But my question is, then what? What if he continues? His parents don't really do much with him. They might tell him to stop, or that he's in time out, but that's about it. The vocabulary he uses actually comes from his own father. What would be the next step is this happens again and his parents don't do anything about it. It's not like school where he could get suspended.

They have them in England and Germany. They give advice to people on all sorts of problems -- they're free and run by volunteers. How would you set one up? How do the volunteers learn what sort of advice to give? Where does the citizens advice bureau locate itself -- do they get an actual storefront?

My background is in finance and tax law, so I'd be good at helping people with those sorts of problems, but I obviously don't know the answer to everything. Maybe the key is to assemble volunteers with a variety of backgrounds so you can direct them to the right person depending on the problem. Any help would be appreciated.

“[Research] results suggest that feminists are most likely to be highly educated, urban women who self-identify as liberals and Democrats. Feminist self-identification significantly relates to views about the impact of the women’s movement and to core causes of gender inequality."

What about age as a factor? I submit that we can add to that list women old enought to possess a working MEMORY of how life used to be - 'before feminism'. Confounding this would be religiosity, I think: the more religious the woman, the less likely she would be to self-identify. Another factor: older women have lost much of their earlier societal programming; they are less focussed on pleasing people & more likely to be outspoken.

Thoughts? Have you talked to older women about what life used to be like?

You know, Thanksgiving is past, December rolls around, the snow starts falling and piling up, you're starting to hear Christmas songs on the radio, the hardware store has stocked shelves with shiny new toys, and decorations are starting to show up all around town. In school, you and your classmates are cutting wreaths and santa claus silhouettes from colored paper then taping them to the windows, and you're all gearing up for the big christmas program. The program that's almost identical from year to year. Did you ever get to be a shepherd or a wiseman or Mary? Best of all, Christmas vacation will soon be here: sledding, ice-skating, rolling in the snow, hitching car bumpers - oops forget that last one. What do you think?
